[ovirt-users] user portal
Dear all, I'm using ovirt 4.3.2 with its engine on a virtual machine. The nodes are all Centos 7.7. Both engine and hypervisor systems work on a 10.0.0.0 private network. Now I would like to let users access the ovirt web page (user portal) and for this I must necessarily add a second network interface to the engine by inserting a public ip. I can't use NAT. Can you give me any advice for this operation ? Can I add the network interface and then run engine-setup ? Will oVirt be accessible from both ip addresses at the end of this operation ? Lots of thanks. [ovirt-users] User portal and DNS entries removal
Hello,We project to use User portal to give more autonomy to users for creating VMs. Creation, modifications are easy et friendship, and network is dealt with external dhcp/ddns. But when deleting a VM, DNS leases with a long TTL still remains and it is not possible to access a new VM that is named as same as the precedent one. I wrote a playbook that erases all related DNS entries and I'm used to run it with AWX for other cases. Is there a way to integrate this playbook into User portal to be run when deleting a VM so as the DNS database to be still clean?___ Users mailing list -- users@ovirt.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@ovirt.org Privacy Statement: https://www.ovirt.org/privacy-policy.html oVirt Code of Conduct: https://www.ovirt.org/community/about/community-guidelines/ List Archives: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/PPEDJKD6NUJONACMFFJFQJ7YR3TC2QFN/
Re: [ovirt-users] User portal permissions
Hello Kristian, I haven't upgraded to 4.2 yet but in 4.1 I create a Directory services group and add the user to it Then I give the user roles VmCreator DiskProfileUser VnicProfileUser These can be added to a DC, storage domain, cluster, etc. The VnicProfileUser means that you can restrict networks and impose QOS, Network Filters, etc. We then add UserTemplateBasedVm permission to give them access to specific templates. For users we allow to create templates we add TemplateCreator permission to their group. These are all user permissions so they can't login to the admin portal. Regards, Paul S. Re: [ovirt-users] User portal permissions
Hi Kristian, As far as I’ve experienced myself, too, they would need one or more admin roles/permissions. The permissions can however be quite freely distributed to the user, and since you can create a custom role, too, it should be possible to stitch together a rather limited admin-role. Regular non-admin privileges supposedly only gives access to the VM Portal and not actually the Administration Portal (in which you could do all of this). Re: [ovirt-users] user portal permissions
Hi Jeff Roles determine two things: 1. What the user can see 2. What the user can do It is important to know on who is the user, what is the role (UserRole? as you also mentioned SuperUser?) and on what object(s) was the role granted on. Assuming it is UserRole, on a specific user, then: If on a VM, then the user can see/operate on this VM. If on a Cluster, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in this cluster. If on a DC, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in clusters that are part of this DC. If on System, then the user can see/operate on all the VMs in the system. So the hierarchy is System-->DC-->Cluster-->VM. I hope this clarifies you question. For some reason, when logged in as a user with a modifed copy role of UserRole (only has login permssion and VM -> Basic Operations -> Remote Log In permission) the user can see all of the VM's and has the ability to open a console, start, shutdown or suspend any of the VM's. I have verified that all of the VM's only show the SuperUser role in their permissions. I went through all of the roles and verified that the user is only a member of the Copy_of_UserRole. The only thing I can think of is that the user is inheriting permissions from something, but I can't find what it is or where. Any suggestions?
