I did it,
this is my way, if someone has the same problem :)
First, defined a var with the string
#set($filter = "")
And later, I put this variable in the filter
#set($options = {
"topFilters":"$filter",
And this works :)

I'm missing an option to show recent blog entries for a specific category,

Thnks Marius, just what I was looking for!
BTW, I have a suspect: Possibly it's just a tomcat restart that triggers this
problem (again and again). I'll have to confirm that yet though.
