They are not mine, of course.

I am having one major issue: I am wanting editable text fields
during the slideshow just like in Microsoft Powerpoint. I've seen
videos that this can be done.

Do you mean that you have seen it done in Microsoft Powerpoint or in
OpenOffice (Impress)?

Can you please explain to me how to do this step by step?

It seems you've been told this facility isn't available.

What is it that you want to do with the resulting presentation? You
can include editable text boxes in either a presentation (Impress) or
a drawing (Draw) document, and these will behave very similarly to
what you are hoping for. There are some disadvantages:

o You need to have the document in edit mode during use - rather than
in a mode that protects the rest of your content, as the "slide show"
function of a presentation would.

o This means that the document cannot fill the screen.

o Users need to know to double-click the border of a text box in
order to edit its contained text rather than simply clicking inside
it. That will be no problem for you in a demonstration, but may make
individual use by, say, pupils less smooth.

But this could be a workaround.

I trust this helps.

The experts on the Forum have already told you that such functionality is not
available in Impress, as far as they know. No amount of repeated asking is
going to cause it to be there if it is not. If it is available in an
equivalent program from another source, then you should use that.

This may have happened because you were overhasty in powering dow the computer
or closing the laptop lid, before the file buffering in the hard drive had
written the OpenOffice file to the platters.

Download a utility such as Recuva or PhotoRec (only one needed) and let it
search for deleted copies of the file.

Hi Janis,

Do you use dropbox on your PC? You should get the link by right clicking
on the file, then choose "Dropbox", then "Copy public link"
You can paste that link into your mail.

If you want to start it from within Dropbox on the phone, it asks you to
install an app for it, mostly "Google Presentation"
With this app, you can start the presentation and you can see your
comments for each slide.

Most phones have a 16:9 display. If you prepare your presentation with
OpenOffice it will default to 4:3.
You have to adjust the paper format with "Format - Page..." and change
width/height from 28,00cm/21,00cm to 28,00cm/15,75cm.
Pictures should look the same on the phone, everything gets scaled.

Did you open my link from the first mail? That will give you an
impression on how it works.

BTW: I have only tested on Android. ;-)

Re: Open Office Impress

2018-07-12 Thread Howard Blum
Place the file in the public folder of Dropbox.

Once in there you should be able to copy the location address. Their
instructions are:

The Public folder lets you easily share single files in your Dropbox. Any
file you put in this folder gets its own Internet link that you can share
with others -- even non-Dropbox users!

Step 1: Drop a file into the Public folder.

Step 2: Right-click this file, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link.
This copies an Internet link to your file that you can paste anywhere:
emails, instant messages, blogs, etc.

That's it! To share your file, just send the link to a friend.

Happy Dropboxing!

If you want to send out a link you must have the presentation at some

I would use Google Drive, upload the presentation, make it accessible
and send the link:

You should be able to open this link in a browser on your PC or with
your smartphone (Google apps must be installed) and start the presentation.

If that is what you are looking for, I can give you further details.

I often use Dropbox for file sharing, too.
Apparently the Dropbox webclient can also display OpenOffice

And if I want to start a presentation stored in Dropbox on my smartphone

I'm using Impress 4.1.3 and I'm wondering if there is a way to edit
text fields during a slide show.

Why not?

o Press Esc during the slide show to interrupt it. This will bring up
the editing screen with the current slide displayed.

o Make your changes.
o If you now go to Slide Show | Slide Show (or F5), the slide show
will restart from the current slide, as edited.

If you mean that you want to edit the slide whilst looking at the
slide in the slide show, surely you wouldn't want to do that, as you
would not have access to the various controls, such as formatting and
so on? And some actions - such as mouse click, Enter, and Esc
itself - are already assigned different meanings in slide show mode.

I trust this helps.

Ordne der Dateiendung *.odp die Defaultaktion ""\soffice.exe"
-show "%1"" statt ""simpress.exe" -o "%1"" zu, d.h. vertausche

GL thanks for your response. :)

It means I don't need any plugin in version 3.4.1? Perfect!

From when it is possible?

All the best,
Gosia
