Hi, I am planning to move my production mailserver from sendmail to
qmail+vchkpw, and thus installed sqwebmail today.
However, I was thrilled to see the suid-root sqwebmail binary in my
cgi-bin.
Is this the default installation, or did I do smth wrong?

yes it needs suid root...how else is it going to create files in vpopmail
dir. Another thought is running webserver with uid of vpopmail.

the only things that i can think of as your problem are:
1. the qmail/users/assign and the corresponding db are non-existant. make sure
that both those files have been created. (see the man pages for qmail-pw2u and
qmail-newu)
2. bad build: try rebuilding, maybe show you ./comfigure options :)

qmail-default file, but I don't remember where I read it. If you want the
message to bounce back to the sender if the user doesn't exist, change

applied (new GCC 2.96 and glibc 2.2)
Compilation process went fine. Problem showed up when using qmail-pop3d with
