That was the problem. I was going in circles trying to figure out why I
wasn't seeing the error as "vpopmail 5.1.1"... Without vdelivermail in
.qmail-default, no vpopmail magic happens. :)

i don't know either. i brought this problem to
sqwebmail list first and got answer from Sam V.
himself telling me that this could be a bug in
vpopmail.
may be you guys in this list who is also using
vpopmail+sqwebmail ever been experiencing the same
problem could help me.
"sqwebmail-ip" file should appear under user's Maildir
directory.

What version of vpopmail are you using?

The string "sqwebmail-ip" doesn't appear anywhere in the vpopmail
source. I don't know enough about sqwebmail to know how vpopmail could
cause it to create that file with root:root ownership.

This bug has been reported only when vpopmail is
being used. As such, this
is likely to be a bug in vpopmail.

[vchkpw] 5.3.30 problems with new domains

2004-02-19 Thread Charles Sprickman
Howdy,

I'm running 5.3.30 (haven't had time yet to spec out 5.4.x) and am seeing
some odd problems with newly-created domains. Everything sent to a "real"
account in a new domain bounces. Aliases that point anywhere outside the
domain do work, so it seems that qmail/vpopmail know the domain is there,
know that the user exists, but then everything just gets nutty.

The biggest clue seems to be the real user vs. alias issue.

Here's all the info:

--a bounce--
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

--log--
And the following in qmail-send's log:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] grep 12424 /var/log/qmail-send/current
@40004035611734fd7f94 starting delivery 12424: msg 311107 to local
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
@4000403561173528546c delivery 12424: failure:
Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._(#5.1.1)/

What's odd is that the user does exist, and vpopmail seems to be aware of
it, as I do have the smtpd chkusr patch, and the mail gets past that.

Here's all the info on the domain:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]/home/vpopmail/domains]# vdominfo example.com

If you are running freebsd, you want "ktrace"; strace is a linux-ism.
Peek at the manpages for ktrace and kdump.

It should be possible to run with the web server user (in debian www-data)
and use internally the posmaster's (or user's) password. I'm afraid using
other user adds a weak security point and gets problems to web
applications which need to use the regular apache user.

[vchkpw] PHP extension for vpopmail

2004-02-19 Thread Rick Widmer
There is now a sneak peek at the updated PHP extension for vpopmail
available on my test web site:

   http://kimberly.developersdesk.com/vpopmail.php.tar.gz

Basic installation instructions are in INSTALL.

You should read README, NEWS and TODO.

There are now 21 functions available to access and update information
about email addresses. To work they must be run as the vpopmail user.
I do it by running apache under the mail user. Hopefully there are
other solutions available.

Access to vset_limits() is planned, but not complete. vdel_limits() is
not tested.

Domainadd, domaindel and domainaliasadd do not work, and may never work.
Use the existing vpopmail programs instead.

Simple programs to execute each of the functions are provided in test/.

On to pMailAdmin, the prototype of QmailAdmin written in PHP... When
the extension is done, it will be submitted to PECL.

This does require your system so support md5 passwords for it to work in
php.

It should be, but I don't use MySQL.

Is this posible? What is encrypton algorithm or MD5 step for encryption?

The salt value must start with $1$

Very important, before you copy the domains directory, you have to install
all the domains (vadddomain) with any password. The postaster password
will be overriden with the old ones after you copy the domains directory.
