It seems vpopmail means that haavik.us is a alias domain of
 spritux.com
If i create the e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] i actually get the e-mail
 message there.

How do you create that? I hope you're using vadduser (from the
vpopmail/bin folder)
Also , are you using maildir?
Have a look,
cat /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts
There should be a list of domains you're allowed to receive mail.

And ,
cat /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains
lists your created virtual domains

The command ./vadddomain shuld add a virtual domain right? Not a
 alias domain?

Yes, vadddomain adds a virtual domain (check it out with vdominfo to see
your already created domains...).

Come back to me with the results.

I am really lost here, and i hope you guys kan help.

Yes, i tryed to restart qmail and vpopmail.
When that didn`t work i actually tryed a shutdown -r now
(if that does not restart qmail nothing does).

Should i recompile vpopmail?

The logs clearly states that vpopmail is looking for a mailbox. And since
defaultdelivery says maildir...

The reply, on the log, from vpopmail , it's just the not found user
 code part:
if ( fs == NULL ) {
printf(Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. vpopmail
 (#5.1.1)\n);

So it doesn't matter if you're using mailbox, maildir, whatever,
vpopmail is going to reply always that.

And stop changing defauldelivery from mailbox to maildir to see what
happens. Mailbox is for common unix users, created on the system using
 adduser. Not your case.

Vpopmail doesn't need restart. It's invoked each time you call it, from
 the qmail supervise script.
But changing qmail control files sometimes need a qmail restart.
Not a shutdown of the machine...
If this system was working before your kernel upgrade, should work
 now.
And recompiling linux kernel doesn't change qmail scripts, and of course
 doesn't touch qmail control files.

Let's see if we gather some more info.
Send the output of:
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl

And also, paste the content of the supervise scripts.
Is there a .qmail file in the domain haavik.us root folder? if so,
paste content.

The reply, on the log, from vpopmail , it's just the not found user
  code part:
 if ( fs == NULL ) {
printf(Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. vpopmail
  (#5.1.1)\n);

If this system was working before your kernel upgrade, should work
  now.
And recompiling linux kernel doesn't change qmail scripts, and of course
  doesn't touch qmail control files.

apparently, its looking for the socket in the wrong place.

Where does it pull the path of the socket

The version of vpopmail you are using is
not using the file for password you need to modify the vmysql.c or .h I
cant remember which one so make sure either you are using the latest
version or modify that file and then recompile..

So it doesn't matter if you're using mailbox, maildir, whatever,
vpopmail is going to reply always that.

and changing the qmail-start command line has no impact whatsoever on
vpopmail because it uses a .qmail file that has content, which overrides
defaultdelivery.

You shouldn't need to look at the vpopmail sourcecode to understand
that.

man qmail-start
man qmail-lspawn

man dot-qmail

And stop changing defauldelivery from mailbox to maildir to see what

you could have ./jimbob's_rib_shack in defaultdelivery and it would have

Vpopmail doesn't need restart. It's invoked each time you call it, from
 the qmail supervise script.

no, vdelivermail is called by qmail-local as instructed by the
.qmail-default file in the domain's home directory.

man qmail-local
man dot-qmail

Question for Eirik:

did you by chance recompile vpopmail recently?

You might also want to try ~vpopmail/bin/vmkpasswd domain for the domain
and see what happens. Also! You might want to check the perms on the
vpasswd file in the domain's home directory.

if the password field is blank (I think the actual encrypted password
field, not the cleartext password) then it will be learned. If you set
a password for the user, or if the user has already 'taught' vpopmail
its password, it doesn't 'learn' anymore.

make sure not to have learn-password on while using smtp auth, or have
two separate vchkpw binaries, one with and one without learn password,
as that creates a huge security hole. (even bigger than enabling
learn-password!)
