Problem is the fact that the latest versions of vpopmail set the ~vpopmail/lib directory as 0711. Change the perms of the directory to 0755 and also the libvpopmail.a file to 0644. _ONLY_ keep this done for as long as you're compiling courier imap. Once you're done, revert the old perms.
