and entering SMTP commands, one by one.)
If other mail programs are the same, then the next question would be; do
the log files record the IP addres

I get the same error if I want to use the "ip-aliasing"
facility. Just say "NO" to using ip-aliasing altogether;
something breaks when you use "--enable-ip-alias=yes". I
think Ken Jones needs to look at this.

(thanks Bill Shupp), the 3rd didn't (Sorry Agus Basyari that I couldn't get
it to work).
Details: I am running vpopmail 4.9.10 + qmailadmin 0.45 + sqwebmail 2.1.1
on a GNU/Linux box.

It seems like your vpopmail programs could not connect to your mysql
server. Did you read README.mysql? You have to put the connection
parameters into vmysql.h BEFORE compiling vpopmail.

Did you try the FAQ No. 28 in the latest vpopmail release?; i.e. you have
to add an ENV in your shell before you run the configure script. This may
work for you, depending on where your mysql libs are,
env "LIBS=-L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient -lz"

The very first feature described of Sqwebmail on its "Features" list is
- Very lightweight. Reads mail directly from maildirs.
Plus it was made to work well with vpopmail, et all. It does not need
qmail-pop3d.
The only reason you would need qmail-pop3d (served with tcpserver or
otherwise) i
vpopmail is run on then you have to get qmail-pop3d (or something)
listening and serving pop3 requests on this machine also; albeit to serve
only "localhost" or 127.0.0.1 or whatever...

commands can produce readable error messages. Why don't you try it to get
some more hints about what the pop server is not able to do; i.e.
(on the same machine)

in domains/socha.net/user/, then it appears the password is being accepted,
so your authentication database seems OK. But you say you aren't able to
READ the mail? What exactly does your email client (pop3 or imap)
