Re: root user privileges on per user, per environment basis ?

Since we're brainstorming, why not give all users sudo access all the time and not have a distinction between root and/or admin level access? The mantra of VCL (I think) is to provision a resource and then blow it away, so why not let them have freedom in this temporary environment all the

The latest commit by Brian highlighted that a feature change for root/admin access might be needed for a future release(maybe for release 2.2). Background: Under certain provisioning engines or OS modules 'root/admin' level access is granted because the node can be reloaded. Also enabling ro

Aaron, I updated the Wiki so that users that have not signed in can view the VCL pages. I also added you as an admin for the space with full permissions. We should probably create a couple of groups for access. Unless there are objections I'll add the committers (apache IDs) with permi

Mentors, What are the steps for cutting a release? I think/suggest that by the end-of April(or sooner) we will have enough committed changes to create the release of VCL 2.1 Thanks, Aaron

Although I helped create the VCL 1.9 VM, I'm only useful to help solve VCL and ESX related problems. The kickstart stuff is all xcat driven, and xcat is a different provisioning module than the ESX.pm module. The VCL 1.9 VM lacks the ESX.pm provisioning code so to deploy to ESX using netb

Changing the password for a user

I've created a few usern...@local users, and this user information is stored in the VCL database. I've assigned these usernames random passwords so that I can send them to their owners. I'd like their owners to be able to change this password form the web interface. Is this possible? B

Hi All, Instead of a 'slot', can there be a notion of available resource for a computer (where computer in this case is a hypervisor)? This will allow vcl to 'pack' vm's onto a hypervisor based on the worst case resource parameters for a vm image. This also leads to the notion of a placement modu

I wanted to let folks know the ESX provisioning module should be finished, or at least in a beta form. I have closed the JIRA ticket (VCL-29) corresponding to the creation of this module. Here is a review of the new functionality: Manage multiple ESX or ESX 3i hypervisors Deploys virtual
