Hi Neil,
If a quick summary is that you are seeing incredible slow downs when
copying data from HDS LUN to VNX LUN, combined with SCSI timeouts in
messages file, then it sounds like the array support library (ASL) is
missing or outdated for the VNX array.
Can you check that one

Hi Carl,
This is normal behaviour for a very large filesystem. We had a similar
experience for our 1.2TB home drive filesystem. The issue lies in that
veritas needs to traverse the entire filesystem in order to calculate
the quotas.
There is nothing you can do, other than have a

Hi all,
I was migrating a volume from one storage array to another and from one
server to another, under windows vxvm, and it didn't work. I followed
my normal procedure which I use for my UNIX servers, but windows vxvm
did something different that I was not expecting.
I mirrored
them, but it doesn't really matter.

Hi Jarkko,
Would it be possible to stop and start DMP somehow? I have no idea on
how to do this.
But sometimes, a reboot is the only thing that can fix things, and it
maybe the best, and fastest, option.
Greg.

Hi James,
not sure about 2.4, but 3.5 and above has option 14 in the vxdiskadm
menu which sounds right up your alley.
failing that, the vxassist move option might do the same.
So, at a guess, something like:
vxassist -g tooldwnld-dg move tooldwnld \!d012 disk24
(please dont use that
hi Jarkko,
Can we see the output of vxprint -hrt ?
Have you tried using vxevac to evacuate the volume?
# vxevac -g cd_backup01_tbsdg cd_backup01_tbsdg02 (I think)
I have never done this, as i have always used vxassist mirror option to
migrate a volume to another lun/storage array.
Greg.
Hi Sigmund,
I would try initialising the disk group from scratch again, but don't
mkfs the filesystem. Chances are that the dg info has gone west, but
the filesystem maybe intact.
Also, if the dg has gone, then it won't let you create the dg with the
same name. Then a restore might be needed.

Hi all,
Got a strange one here. I have a E2900, Solaris 10, recent patches,
with VxVM 5.0 + mp1.
We have a Sun 6540 (Flexline 380) zoned to it over the SAN. There is
only 1 switch in use. 4 ports on the array are zoned to 2 HBA's on the
server, with a 3rd dedicated to tape.

Hi Asim,
Ever since sun started making/supporting hardware raid in T2000's, we
have stopped encapsulating our root disks on these hosts.
The last time I did encapsulate a root disk, it is on what I would call
a Gen 1 T2000. That is, the SATA controller is a card. This worked
well, and was with

We had a server crash today (a T2000 - Solaris 10, vxvm 4.1 with some

Hi all,
could you perhaps evacuate the data from the 40GB LUN to some temporary

the temporary space?
Another option maybe is to mirror to other LUNS and then try and shrink

Hi,
We use HBA's for tape and disk access. It works very well. You do not use DMP
or MPXIO to configure the tape HBA. All you do it install the card, drivers
and then modify st.conf (if using solaris) to find the (tape) luns, just as

The only thing you will need to worry

We had the same problem on a V210. Another admin re-installed the OS at
