Re: Paid for Versions - can't register, no response from support.

2009-04-04 Thread TheDO

Dimitri, I respectfully disagree with your conclusions.

1) I've had great support from MadeBySofa. They did take about 3 days
to respond soon after public beta release of Versions, so that was
understandable.
2) I've had no trouble registering Versions on 6 different computers,
4 different internet connections.
3) I understand that my personal experience is not enough to judge the
quality of a product. If a problem occurs, I must also look at my
personal setup, not just blame the software.

Questions for you:
1) what were the three different channels you used to contact support?
2) did you get value from the app during the trial period?

Hangs on processing the registration, like some others have
experienced.  This licensing/registration model is crap.  I guess it's
 too much to ask that:
1.) the license key they send you works, and
2.) there's support for this product after the sale.

It shouldn't be this difficult. $50 for shareware that I can't even
run...don't waste your money/time on this app.

Re: FR: Open with... as context menu entry

2009-04-04 Thread TheDO

Another workaround is to just grab a file (or files) and drag them
from Versions onto the Dock icon for the application you want to open
them in.

Or, grab the file, Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, hover over
Applications folder, and then drop onto the application you want to
open them with. Sounds like a long, complicated method, but is really
rather quick.

Please add an Open with... entry into the context menu for selected items.

I agree that this would be nice but a simple work around is to use
Reveal in finder and the use Open with... or change the default
 handler with command-I.

Re: svn 1.6 support?

2009-04-04 Thread Dirk Stoop

Hi All,

We're working on an update to Versions.

That update will likely not yet include SVN 1.6 support though, we are
working on it, but need more time to test.

Unlike some other Subversion clients, Versions does not use the SVN
command-line tool internally, instead we compile the Subversion
library code and include it in the binary. One of the advantages of
our approach is better performance, the clearest disadvantage is that
we can't make Versions work with any release of Subversion that it
finds on the computer it's running on.

Sorry for the wait. We'll get SVN 1.6 support in your hands as soon
as we can.

Cheers,
- Dirk

the Versions team

It's been a while since Versions was last updated (4 months), so I
personally expect an update to come shortly. The fact that they
integrate Subversion into Versions and don't support external svn
installations does complicate matters. I, too, would like Versions to
use my external installation (from MacPorts). It's able to recognize
that a compatible version is installed, so it should give me the
 option to use it.

I'm eagerly awaiting news on support for 1.6. Any word?

I'd love to be able to provide Versions with my current svn libs and
so forth so I don't have to wait for Sofa to update the app.
