Re: Poor Performance in 1.0.+

2008-11-18 Thread jared

yeah, not to pile it on, but I've spent all day wishing I could have
the beta version back (and I did already purchase, would have paid
twice the price).

updates and commits constantly hang on preparing... i can't quit out
of transactions, can't cancel, have to force quit the program. i'd
say a simple update then commit has only worked right 30% of the time
today.

please, you've made me totally dependent on this app! would love
a fix!

the moment I can't justify it because with 1.0 it's made the
 application unusable for me, because:

 * Very excessive cpu usage, even when in the background.
 * Poor UI update when focusing on a specific task - it's too busy
 updating elsewhere.
 * Constantly Nagged for passwords for repositories and externals when
I have no interest in them, nor do I want to have to guess which
 repository versions is referring to.

To be honest I'd much rather be using the previous beta, and in our
 office I'm not alone.

 Cheers,

Re: Poor Performance in 1.0.+

2008-11-18 Thread Zengy

I purchased 1.0 today after having a great experience with the beta
versions. However, I am having the same frustrations with 1.0 and they
have made the product unusable. Here are the problems that need to be
fixed quickly:

• The software is constantly asking me for my username/password for
every task that it needs to perform.
• The preparing dialogs appear and never complete.
• I cannot quit the program without force quitting. I get a message
saying Quitting Versions. Waiting for transactions to finish, but it
never finishes.

Please let me know if there are any workarounds for these issues.

I just upgraded to 1.0.2 and the preparing seem to be a bit better.
However, it is still asking me for a username/password every time I
try to do something. Also, I still have to force quit.

Re: Poor Performance in 1.0.+

2008-11-18 Thread Mikhail Kornienko

Wow.. I have just updated from beta to 1.0.2, and the app is
sooo sluggish.. WTF happened, folks?
I guess it has something to do with Versions updating status of ALL
registered working copies in the background.

I have about may be 30 or 40 working copies configured in Versions
right now, and Versions rally is taking its time to update all of
them, bringing my Mac's HD to its knees (iMac's I/O was never very
fast to begin with..)

Can I have some way to TURN THE GODDAMN SMART FEATURE OFF may be??

BTW, the waiting for transactions to finish most probably is related
to the background updating process which you can't stop AFAIK. Sucky
sucky.. These experiments really should've been done during beta
testing...
