Hi Tony;
On that note, what if I wanted to build a bamboo rod with titanium holographic

Hi Tony:
I agree. Single foot guides on a bamboo rod would be sacrilege and
esthetically unpleasant! While I have used single foot guides, I prefer
good quality snakes for all my fly rods. I have modern fly rod with single

Hi Neville;
I have an 8ft 6wt fly rod with gold single foot guides and don't notice any
sound at all. The builder did use pretty large guides though to keep the line

If it's that noisy, I imagine it stays home.
Just curious, how many guides does it have, how big are they and how long is
the rod?

Not much casting with Czech nymphing.

Rene,
If you're not satisfied with the manufacturer's suggestion, put the
guides on with small rubber tubing (dentists use it for braces).
Then put a reel on, run the line through the guides, and put enough
weight on the line to put a good bend in the rod.
Then you can adjust the position
