[VFB] Re: Foam bodies and cutting them

2009-04-20 Thread Ian Mitchell

Thanks Tony thats what I had been using for my sheets, but on the stacked
bodies, I wasnt having much luck with my scissors. I also suspect I need to
look at a better glue as the adhesive I am using doesnt tend to hold well when
I cut them..

I have found a sharp razor blade and thin metal ruler or the roller type

Going to Finland on Friday for Tampere FlyFair 2009 this weekend and I guessed
I had to add an international hopper to my wacky hopper stand. Finnish guys

2009-04-20 Thread J Balmer
Like Tony, I use a metal straight edge a razor knife. I used to have the
same problem w/ the glue, or some of them would dissolve the foam. I started
using the crafters glue that the gf had haven’t had a problem since. Plus,
it stays more flexible.

it was Dennis G. from Ireland, I remember catching frogs, drying them
and gluing them to hooks. And we lost a mayfly swap.
But his friend Kevin reported something about a hospital, I fear
something really odd has happened to our friend Dennis

Ian -

You asked about adhesives to use with foam. I have always used plain old
Rubber Cement and I have never had a problem with it separating.

I take two pieces of foam and liberally coat one side of each with rubber
cement. After the cement has become tacky, I carefully place the two pieces
together, press them and hold them together for a few minutes. I then set them
aside to dry for at least an hour. When they are dry, I trim them to size with
a metal straight edge and a single edge razor blade or razor knife.
