In wordpress ...1) ...can one post be placed in more than one category (sort of like tags)2) ...can you easily create a feed that is just for a given category?3) ...can you have nested categories (can a given category, have subcategories?)

Does anyone have an idea of what the net file size of a one minute
videoclip would be shot in HD mode on the new Sanyo HD1? I wonder if
it exceeds the size allowed by many upload/host sites?
Thanks. WOuld be helpful before I plunk down the money for the camera.

Off the top of my head the bitrate is 9Mbit, which is roughly 15 times
higher than the average videoblogs bitrate. So approximately speaking,
1 minute of HD Sanyo footage will be the same file size as 15 minutes
of the average 320x240 videoblog.
Your best bet is almost certainly to downsize the
Sorry to ask here, but google is not helping me, and neither is
dreamhost. I got that crazy $9/year plan, but I don't know how to
transfer from my old host. Does anyone know in unix how you'd
transfer all of your files from one site to the other? I wouldn't
want to download everything and then
if it's at all like the older xactis, then i imagine there are settings
for capturing at different sizes and/or quality
however, as a rough guideline, I have heard that you get about 20
minutes of video on the 2GB card
so 1 min is maybe around 100MB?
just guessing here

It depends: what do you have on your old website? A wordpress install
with a database? Just a flat website with files?
You will need to log in on the command line to your server. Have you
done that before?

thanks, Peter. I have a movable type install, a blog with archives, some hosted videos.

ok, then you need to find info on the MT website.
The basic steps will be these:
1. backup your files to your local computer
2. backup your database (you know how to do this?)
3. Now you can either start a new MT install on your new host, and
import all your entries (using MT's import/export
ps: if you're not familiar with all these steps, set apart a weekend
for it. An experienced person might do it in a few hours or less.

another option
is it possible to ftp the files from old server to new?
maybe Dreamhost support can do that for you?
otherwise you'll have to download to local and then upload again (ugh!)
if using ftp is an option, you can at least make this two simple (but
possibly slow) folder copies

I have a Sanyo Xacti first generation, and the MPEG4 files compress quite nicely. I am looking at the HD1 as much for the zoon and (better) low light shooting than for its HD qualities. 100MB would make it "unuploadable" to many hosts and downright nasty to those who will accomodate such large
Yes. The thing to remember is: when moving an MT install or any dynamic
website, it's NOT just about FTP-ing the files (which is easy), but
about replicating the database, usernames, permissions and all that
geeky stuff (which can be hard).
You should look into MT's import/export options

I agree. Best (read easiest) thing I can see doing in this situation
is to install a clean version of MT then upload all your files then
import your database.
I use Wordpress and that's how I did it when I switched hosts.
I cant see you getting around not dowloading all your files and then
I think you'd want to compress it before uploading.
For web and aggregator viewing, a local video producer compresses with H.264. That's his suggestion.
It looks really really great.
