Dear Jay,
Thank you very much for the nice welcome.
We've had a lot of new people join in the last month.
I want to first extend a welcome to you.
I am one of the new members, but still in the phase of experimenting,
i.e. I still do not have a really working vlog. But as an introduction
to
Randolfe, you are so right podcasts is a funny word, I see this as renaming thing, how about HAMvideo, it worked for years with radio. What are you feelings, apart from ham being a type of pig meat, so much for getting away from this obese man image you have. Call me a little surreal but
Paul, thanks for the response. Frankly, I
think we should use more personal names when responding here. These treads
wander around and if you don't read them as threads (and people respond in
different order) you're not sure exactly what is being said in answer
specifically to what.

Hi,
I want to add my welcome to new list members too.
I've been with this list since day one and have enjoyed being a member.
When some people first look at videoblogging they just see videos on
web pages.
It's more than that. This group, comments, emails and links have
brought together
And a good place for references is of course at the wikipedia entry for VLOG:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VlogOn 11/23/05,

Steve brings up a great point and I have always liked how he describes
videoblogging
Don't you mean video podcast?
I'm joking, of course, but I've noticed a lot of people in this group
change their weblog title or description to include the phrase video
podcast since the release of the video iPod. Is this simply to gain a
little extra Google-juice with the hopes of snagging those
Hi Josh,
It's more than simple 'buzz factor.' Most people don't know what or
how to connect to media via xml feeds. 'Podcast' is making headway as
the generic term to describe this via Apple's (and others') marketing
and promotion. To simply add 'video' to podcast becomes a very simple
way to
I'd guess buzz.

yo,podcast is utterly the worst word that could have ever come out of audioblogging and now videoblogging. i absolutely despise it. why? because any term that references a specific product from a specific company that is in no way exclsuive to what it is is wrong and confusing.

Damn, Vimeo Vogblogiobating still only gives hits to my domain on
Google. My quest for global adoption has failed.

These are searches people made NOT results.
Lots of people are looking for ipod video, fewer are searching for
vlogs.

I agree with Michael. "Podcast" just sounds
ugly. The word brings to mind images like a terribly obese man or a swarm
of oysters--if oysters could "swarm".
Actually, "video radio" has a nice ring to
it. Never heard that term before.
I also agree that "podcast" ties everything to the

We started out in the spring of 2004...and have all learned a lot
since then on how to videoblog.
