[videoblogging] Classic Vlogs.

2005-09-11 Thread Starfire
This week I am giving a 2 day intro to Vlogging class at a local high
school. Day 1 I will be giving a brief history of Vlogging and
showing some examples. What classic Vlog posts would you guys show to
high-schoolers?

Re: [videoblogging] Classic Vlogs.

2005-09-11 Thread Kunga
There are a wide variety on my site. I would definitely show them the
Buckminster Fuller Site. That is a classic set of video if there ever
was one. Those videos of Bucky used to cost thousands of dollars to
buy. Now they are free from his site. And Jay Dedman on Vlogging from
last year. And Molly Holzschlag on Blogging as an act of courage from
last month. All are classics.

You could also point out that the http://FutureMedia.org site didn't
exist until the last day of July '05 and that there was no video on
it until August 9 and no feed until August 14 and no iTunes Directory
listing until August 21 and that on August 29 it was deemed one of
the World's Best Video sites by London's The Independent online edition.

Point being that they can invent a new site and get global
recognition for executing a good idea in less than a month. So
anything is possible.

Molly http://futuremediatv.blogspot.com/2005/08/molly-holzschlag-
declares-blogging-act.html
Jay http://futuremediatv.blogspot.com/2005/09/36mb-195min-former-
cnn-vet-jay-dedman.html
Bucky http://futuremediatv.blogspot.com/2005/08/r-buckminster-bucky-
fuller-everything.html

I know some of you cynics here think this is self promotion tooting
my own horn stuff. Well you've got to admit that is a pretty amazing
story no matter who's site we are talking about. I think kids should
know how fast success can happen in this arena. So it's not about me.
It's a classic example of rapid critical acclaim possibilities.

Love your work Starfire.

Classics?
Well there's always Verdi's Yin -
http://michaelverdi.com/index.php/2005/07/20/the-yin-of-vlogging/ and
Yang - http://michaelverdi.com/index.php/2005/07/20/the-yang-of-vlogging/
vlogs. Some language in one, but nothing I'm sure the kids have
never heard.

Anything from the E-Band - http://milian.blogs.com/milian/eband/index.html

I saw this on Rocketboom and loved it -
http://nordark.blogs.com/nordark/2005/05/i_like_.html

Of course, I have to mention Wonderful World -
http://randomshow.com/archives/9-Wonderful-World.html
and Mirror World - http://www.leanbackvids.com/videoblog/seattle/mirror-world/

And my little bit of shameless self promotion -
http://icenrye.blogspot.com/2005/07/keira-disk-dog.html

Hope this helps.

2005-09-11 Thread Tim D
Something tells me that the high school may not appreciate Starfire
showing a video of Verdi's, as awesome as he is, naked ass to a group
of their students. I don't doubt the kids would get a huge kick out
of it. However, take it from someone who works in a high school:
unless it's a school unlike most in this country, avoid any video with
anything that could be deemed coarse or brazen by the conservative
masses. It only takes one dissenter to put the kibosh on the whole
thing.
