Has the ZR500 gotten rid of any remaining problems between the ZR series and
Final Cut / iMovie?
I'll admit I haven't used many of the newer ZR series cameras, but the older
ones made me want to cut my eyes out when trying to make them play nice with
FCP.
If Verdi's using one, I guess it must

Right, good point that the audio is super important (that's what
people are always complaining to me about!)
I do want/need an external mic...
So cool, I will do some research on those cameras coming out - thanks!

Right, good point...I'd rather not have a camera that's compatible
with all editing systems...just to make editing faster and easier and
to eliminate extra steps...
Thanks Gena!

Hi Dina. I notice that you do a lot of recording at conventions,
meetings and active locations. Are you looking for something to handle
interview situations or a camcorder that is good in a variety of
environments?

Actually, the main thing I am looking to upgrade is having the footage
look lighter/brighter. That is my main complaint with the $200

I have a Panasonic PV-GS300. It is a 3CCD with Optical Image Stabilization and
16:9 mode
for around $500. I have had it for 6 months with no problems.

Hi Dina,
My 2 cents is to think about sound quality as not that many cameras
have a mic input. If you are wanting to use an external mic this could
be a determining factor. For shooting outdoors or in noisy places, an
external mic makes a huge difference IMO. And mic input is not to be

What I did was to swing over to my subscription of Consumer Reports

The Panasonic PV-300 has a very good score on the audio and has the
ability to connect and external mic. It doesn't say what type.
