Re: [videoblogging] who's using what format?
In general, I'd have to say it's overwhelmingly Quicktime mpeg4 of some kind. I have 78 feeds in FireAnt and 74 of them are QuickTime. It used to be 73 and then Carl Weaver started using QuickTime. I didn't specifically look for QuickTime only - though if people provide a choice (like 3D Roger) I subscribe to the QuickTime feed. I think one or two are Flash. Also since most of those quicktime videos will play on my iPod, I suspect that most are not h.264 (because that would mean they were using the export to iPod which is likely to squish thier videos - which I haven't really noticed.) That's not scientific, of course. Just my observation.-VerdiOn 4/11/06, Deirdre Straughan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:We've had lots of discussion in here about what video format is best to use for videoblogging.Do we have any real statistics about what people actually ARE using?Anyone know of a reliable way to figure this out?--best regards,Deirdré Straughan www.beginningwithi.com (personal)www.tvblob.com (work)Yahoo! Hi Deirdre, I don't know of an easy way to get this info. But we can always set up a poll and everyone can vote. If you guys want me to set up a poll let me know, and can have it done within 20 minutes. Re: [videoblogging] who's using what format?
That would be great. It needs to be set up so that any one voter can choose multiple formats - for example, I post my videos in SWF, FLV, M4V, and sometimes WMV and DivX.On 4/11/06, Monique Danielle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Deirdre, I don't know of an easy way to get this info. Oh - mutliple selectionsmight take a little more work. I'll look into it over the next few days and let you know. Before I invest the time I would like to hear from more vloggers as to whether or not they think such a poll would be helpful. Re: [videoblogging] who's using what format?
Many publishers will continue to keep in mind the popularity of the video iPod.This results in mostly Quicktime compatible media being the choice and preference which is probably the best thing that has come out of Apple ;-) I also encourage the use of DivX. See divx.com. This is excellent technology and I think a fair license: http://www.divx.com/company/partner/indies/FLV is also great and in currently most suitable for viewing video on web pages.sullOn 4/11/06, Deirdre Straughan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: We've had lots of discussion in here about what video format is bestto use for videoblogging.Do we have any real statistics about what people actually ARE using?Anyone know of a reliable way to figure this out? --best regards,Deirdré Straughanwww.beginningwithi.com (personal) www.tvblob.com (work)Yahoo! Just a follow-up since 50 people have responded to my survey. Here are the number for the first 50 (don't put too much into the percentages, those are too easily influence with such a small sample): Which formats do you make your video available in?
