[videoblogging] Flash video and Intel Macs
hey, sorry if this has been discussed already, i couldn't find anything on it. I have a pretty new intel mac and all Flash video anywhere plays horrible on it. youtube, blip whatever, if there is no quicktime, i pretty much can't watch it. it's choppy and slow. all the same videos play fine on my PC. I think there was a setting on the macromedia sight that i changed a while ago but that didn't help. does anyone else have this problem? David Kessler http://undertheel.blogspot.com
Re: [videoblogging] Flash video and Intel Macs
Hey David, Flash playback shouldn't be a problem on any Mac, no matter what PC nerds will tell you. Have you tried running it in different browsers? You could try CTRL+Clicking on a flash player and changing some of the things in the Settings and Quality menus. If that doesn't work, try running the uninstall program which you can download here http://tinyurl.com/2j9lt2 (if that link doesn't work, google Adobe Flash Uninstall) Then reinstall it. Shouldn't take too long. Quicker than messing about with trial and error, maybe. [videoblogging] flash video
I have seen many versions of saving video files. Is it easier or better to just save them in a flash format so every body can use them? Does this work best? Can I use navigation buttons when saving my files as a flash video. Daryl

Does this mean that flash 8 is basically unproblematic with respect to duration and scrubbing? I've just started working flash and flash video and love the flexibility of it. But, you can get the On2 Flix Exporter and run that on your server. Not sure how expensive it is. I'm pretty sure that's what most of the upload-your-video-here sites are using. -Josh On 6/2/06, Lisa Harper [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Does this mean that flash 8 is basically unproblematic with respect to duration and scrubbing? I ran into this problem and never found a fix.:-(I'm unsure if there is a way without re-encoding/injecting metadata.I believe the upload sites get around the issue coz they use the Flash server to stream it. [videoblogging] Flash video - version penetration
According to Adobe/Macromedia, based upon a survey by NPD: http://tinyurl.com/zzftm Flash 5: 97.7% Flash 6: 97.2% Flash 7: 94.8% Flash 8: 69.3% That's for the U.S. as of April 2006. Percentages are higher in Europe. I'm still using Flash 6 for MInnesota Stories, primarily because of the high installed user base. I'm very tempted to upgrade to Flash 8 video but I don't want to lose anybody or force an upgrade -- and it looks pretty decent. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Charles Iliya Krempeaux [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello, I thought Flash only had about 90% saturation (not 98%). Re: [videoblogging] Flash video - version penetration
that's a bit more like it, but I'm even skeptical about these figures many of the survey companies are in the biz of obtaining results that make them look good (or competitors look bad) i had a friend that was a SAS analyst for JD Powers and he explained how they work with clients. objectivity is a joke in these cases it's no wonder that just about every car made comes out on top in *some* survey similarly, these are reminiscent of microsoft's browser claims according to them, IE is still around 90% other people claim more like 60% that's a lot of wiggle room the bottom line: there is no silver bullet Chuck Olsen wrote: According to Adobe/Macromedia, based upon a survey by NPD: http://tinyurl.com/zzftm Flash 5: 97.7% Flash 6: 97.2% Flash 7: 94.8% Flash 8: 69.3% That's for the U.S. as of April 2006. [videoblogging] Flash, video iPod and offering MP3 podcasts
I videoblog for the Detroit News political blog - http://spartanedge.com/blogs/detroitnews/index.html - But because I use Flash, it seems that I can't get on on aggregators. Is that still true? Seems off to me because I really think Flash is a cool way to offer vid. Another concern - I am not sure how to offer up video for the iPod -- I squeezed my video through Sorenson into a small MPEG-4And then I offer a link that allows people to download it. But I do not have an iPod and wondered if it works OK. I have no way to check. I also wondered how many of you also offer an MP3 podcast of your videoblog. I try to do that but don't know if it works well. Thanks - Bonnie B Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~-- Get Bzzzy! (real tools to help you find a job). [videoblogging] flash video formats
Question for video gurus -- is there any way to get video into Flash without packaging it up as either a FLV file or embedding it within an SWF file? [videoblogging] Flash Video.
Hi, everyone! I'm wondering if anyone uses Flash Video (flv) on their blogspot-hosted video blog. As some of you know, I'm working on a Master's Thesis project that will involve a video blog, and a flash application that accesses the videos on the vlog. What I'm unsure of is how to embed .flv files with controllers into the blogger templates. Are there any Flash gurus out there that wouldn't mind giving me some pointers? (If you'd like to read a conceptual overview of the project, visit http://videostring.blogspot.com ) Thanks so much in advance, guys. Serra http://headsoff.blogspot.com Yahoo!
