Re: [videoblogging] Re: embedding flash video

2006-03-28 Thread Christian Car
Hi Richard,

sorry, haven't read the whole thread but if you are interested in
posting flv files you can use my Video Blog Recorder on
http://stars-of-the-web.net/shows/blogtalk . The only thing you need
is a webcam and each posting comes with a code snippet to include the
flv into your blog.

Greetings,
Chris

http://www.FreeVideoCoding.com generates custom html codes to embed Flash videos (FLV and SWF) on web pages and most website services that accept html codes. (codes included the Flash flv player, so you dont need to upload it yourself.)     Options include player embeds, link to embeded players, text links, and image links. Also inlcudes custom codes for wmv, mov, asx, wma, mp3, mpg, avi, mpa, rm and ram. No worries Richard. We'll get this done for you :)

In your Options, Writing...

Uncheck "Users should use the visual rich editor by default"

Update Options.

Then...Users, Personal Options (bottom of the page)...

Uncheck "Use the visual rich editor when writing"

Update Options.

That should do it.

David,I click on manage posts and then click on edit by the post and the post comes up in a rich text editor and I don't see any buttons that say flv. When you say "with html editor off", I'm not sure if I need to change an option or that just means that I don't click on the html button to bring up the html code.
... I may be misunderstanding something basic about wordpress, of course ... thanks for your help, and working with me on this ... I appreciate it!... RichardOn 3/22/06,

That would pretty much be what your post is. With the HTML editor off,you should see a button there above your post window that says "FLV"on it. Click that to enter the info for your flash video. It will ask
you a couple questions once you click it before embeding the code for you.Let me know if you have any questions. More than happy to help :)Davidhttp://www.davidhowellstudios.com

2006-03-22 Thread David Howell
Oh no worries. You arent bugging me :)

Your code would look something like this...

-
http://path/to/your/flash_video.flv"; width="320"
height="240" autostart="false">

My name is Richard and this is my first Flash video post.
--

That would pretty much be what your post is. With the HTML editor off,
you should see a button there above your post window that says "FLV"
on it. Click that to enter the info for your flash video. It will ask
you a couple questions once you click it before embeding the code for you.

Let me know if you have any questions. More than happy to help :)

2006-03-22 Thread David Howell
You didnt do anything wrong. With that certain plug-in, you have to
turn off HTML editing for it to work properly. I dont use the HTML
editor so it's no matter to me.

If you do want to use the HTML editor and have the embed work, another
plugin is Extreme Video Plugin.

I followed the directions to upload the plug in and the .swf file and the plug in showed up in my plug ins and I activated it and changed the settings to make sure it properly referenced the .swf file. Then I go into a post and click on the html button and insert the following colde
http://richard.blip.tv/file/get/Richard-RichardsWifesBirthdayWMV360.flv" autostart="false" />
I click update on the html (nothing shows in the preview), then I click save, then I look at my post and there's nothing there where I thought a video should be embedded, and in experimenting I find out that the code is never saved in when I click on update in the html, so it just acts as though I didn't update anything ...

Yes this works well too. And much nicer than Youtube where they
plant a big old logo in the corner of your screen. The other thing
that is nice about it is that they make the flash versions directly
from your feed so you don't have to re-upload your video to them.
Also Blip.tv has a flash transcoding and embedding function too.

I use the WP-FLV plugin to embed Flash video on my site
(http://www.davidhowellstudios.com). It makes it rather painless to
say the least.

I've been playing with using the flash previews built in to Veoh. Then
they generate the "embed" code for you...and people can click to get
the full version (using the veoh client.)

example using my grandpa's vlog:
