Re: [videoblogging] using iPod movie encoding with blip.tv

2006-02-06 Thread Joshua Kinberg
Try inserting it as HTML. I don't know how to use the rich text editor
in the Blip interface (rich text editors are kind of annoying that way
because they make it harder to write code), but there must be a way to
insert code.

I wouldn't suggest forcing people to download a browser - not everyone
is an early adopter and willing to invest the time in this.  Treat

2006-02-02 Thread Stephanie Bryant
Having no trouble in Windows XP, QT 7-- awesome jam, by the way.

Do your Windows IE users have the latest version of QuickTime? If they
didn't upgrade recently, they won't have proper H.264 support. The
beta version of QT 7 for Windows had H.264 support but it was
extremely buggy and not worth the trouble. The export-to-iPod setting
uses H.264, so you're pretty much stuck with it if you want to have
both in one feed.

Re: [videoblogging] using iPod movie encoding with blip.tv

2006-02-02 Thread Michael Verdi

The export to iPod gives the file a made up extension - .m4v. The problem is that IE doesn't know what to do with it. If you just rename the file to have the .mp4 extension everything will work like it did before. There is another problem though. Video has rectangular pixels and computers have square pixels. When you watch DV video on a computer it is slightly compressed vertically. If you play that same video on a TV it has the correct aspect ratio. The export for iPod preserves the dv aspect ratio but doesn't make an allowance for the different pixel aspect ratio. The end result is 320 X 213 video which is slightly compressed vertically. It should convert the video to 320 X 240 but it doesn't. The best way around this is to not use the export for iPod option. It's dissapointing. I was hoping that would be a simple solution for people but it's not. If you want to make good quality movies out of quicktime, you're going to have to do the settings manually. The ones at Freevlog that you used earlier are a good start. You can also try basically those same settings with
H.264 or 3ivx as the video codec and get great results (and iPod compatibility).-VerdiOn 2/2/06, thebossa <
