Hello,
For those libraries that subscribe to or own Films On Demand titles have
any of you noticed a significant decline in your usage statistics over
the last few months? Our monthly statistics took a huge drop in
August, decreasing 88% from the previous month of July, and have
continued
Just looking at the most recent month, our usage data is off about 70%
from the same period last year so there appears to be a possible
change in how usage is being counted. If anything I'd expect growth
from last year. There are definitely more classes using it this year.

Our FOD statistics are down dramatically also. But on our campus the FOD
service has not been working well all semester - since the enhancements made to
the service in August. Our faculty have been having terrible trouble with
making the programs stream - in the classroom and from home. The
Hi,
Looking for the rights holder for The History of Rock 'N' Roll that I can
contact regarding a digital streaming license. PBS responded that they did not
hold the digital rights for this title and recommended checking with Warner
Home Video. If that is the case, does anyone have contact
Swank should have rights IF Warner Bros does, but I doubt it. Music rights
clearances are an absolute nightmare. I suspect it is not possible to
license it for streaming, but no harm in trying.

Some background and then a question….
ASU Libraries recently implemented a Pilot interface for hosting streaming
videos when a distributor does not provide hosting.
(Most of our streaming videos are from Alexander Street Press, Ambrose Digital,

Hey d
We've kludged together a really kinda dumbed-down workflow and system (if
it can be called that) for streaming locally.
We have a Digital Rapids encoder in MRC (which cost us an obscene amount
of money)which we use to encode into whatev (currently Windows Media, but
hopefully H264 (Flash)
Hi Deg -
We encode videos (preferably into mp4/H264 format) and stream them from
a Helix Server (Realnetworks -Helix Mobile Server/14.2.0.212

We looked into the Helix Media Library for a management tool, but

Hi deg and all,
Film Ideas is giving away the source code to its streaming service, no strings
attached. The hope is to increase our digital sales but there is no requirement
to buy. You can review the interface at www.fichannels.com and click on the
free trial for instance access. You do not

I'm not sure I like the phrase Americans are skeptical of climate
change. Lumping us all into one basket is as ignorant as, I don't know,
refusing to air part of a documentary that deals with climate change? :p
I guess Discovery took a look at who their largest viewing demographic was

Dear CW:
Does anyone know when Taste of Waste is going to be released in the US? I know
it is currently being sold by Amazon in Germany. We would prefer a Region 1
with English subtitles.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Sincerely,
Eileen Karsten
