Volks,
The European-delivered 1968-on 1300 and 1500 beetles came standard with
front disk brakes; the USA models didnt get them until later. Im
considering converting my 1970s front stock drums to the closest
approximation of Euro stock disks that I can get. Several questions.
Mid-America
usa never put had disc brakes on any beetle or super beetle.ever/never..
european ones were availible with karmann ghia 4 lug front disc brakes on
1500 beetles 1200 and 1300 were drum brakes . i forgot what your question
was??? is it do karmann ghia spindles and disc brakes bolt right on
Bert,
My recolection is tha there were *never* any beetles super or otherwize
that were imported with disk brakes.
Only Karman Ghia's and busses about the same time(1971/2 I'm thinking).
I have a conversion front conversion kit from Empi on the front of my 68
turbo and CB on the rear.
you listened to advice from that guy?

Bert,
I did this conversion on my '72 Super. However, I was fortunate to get a
stock set of disk brake spindles from an acquaintance in England. IIRC, the
rest of the parts, rotors, calipers, bearing, seals, etc., were available
locally. IIRC, the rotors, calipers were stock Type I or Type 3.
Yeah, every once in awhile he hands out some good info. :-)

you
A number of years ago purchased a kit from John Connolly at aircooled.net for
my daughter's '74 Standard and was very pleased with the kit and the increase
in stopping power. He currently sells the ball joint kit for about $300.
