It can easily be done by one person, usually. As far as I know, the
early bolts were regular bolts, and holding the head (under the vehicle)
while tightening the nut in the engine compartment is a problem. Later,
a special bolt with a sot of half-moon head would not turn when you put
on the
I have the official factory manual, but it seems a bit sparse in the
section where you new to replace the starter. Any tips from anybody who has
done this before? It mentioned it being a 2 person job with some
mysterious bolt involved within the engine compartment itself.

Not mysterious at all.
Disconnect battery.
Disconnect wiring to the starter.
The engine to transmission bolt above #1 cylinder has to come out
and one other bolt on bottom of the starter.
Starter should wiggle straight out toward the front of the car.
