I just installed iOS 9.01.I still have the same problem. When you have a
multiple message thread, it merely says, "multiple items." It used to say the
exact number of messages in the thread. Is there anyway to get this behavior
back?

For the record, I am only dealing with publicly released software. I have
absolutely no access to beta versions. Therefore, I can't possibly be violating
any restriction on this list about undiscussable features. This is simply a
behavior that used to work in iOS 8. It doesn't work now.
I was using my 4S with 9.1 today and had threading on. (I don't veryh often
do this as I really just prefer to read and deal with ...)
When I reached the thread, I had to double tap on the first message to be
read. At that point I learned how many messages there were in the thread.

I did forget to mention that anybody who wants it now has access to beta
software via the Apple Public Beta program. You can get more information at

It appears from what was said by the person who is running iOS 9.1 Beta that
eventually this will be fixed. Remember that the official 9.0.1 release is not
the same as the 9.1 Beta and typically the first major update where instead of
9.0.x it goes to 9.1.x does not come out until November.
I use threading all of the time. I just find it a more efficient way to
handle messages, and the Mail app in conjunction with VoiceOver does a
great job with threading. You're right, the problem is that we used to
see how many messages were in the thread when we were in the mail box
view
I'd like to see them change this behavior back to what it previously was, but
I'd also like to see the behavior return that told you the email subject, then
the number of unread messages, instead of listing the names of the people in
the thread, then the subject, then the number of messages.
Has anyone noticed that iOS nine no longer tells you the number of messages in
a thread? Now, it only says multiple messages. This bugs me. Is there a
setting I can change? I've noticed this in the mail app. I'm using an iPhone
6.

Hi! Folks: has anyone noticed with voiceover that since the installation of iOS
9, that it now reads when you go to your email app, it tells you whether or not
you have any read or unread messages. That's neat because I couldn't know that
before I go in there. Also, does anyone know how 9.1 of
Hi Mike and Kevin,
First of all, Cara has been very clear about not to discuss any beta versions
or features. Now that it is possible to sign up for public betas there are of
course people on this list who are using these betas and some may not agree
that one should not discuss them. So, you
