I used to have a pair of JVC noise canceling headphones that were excellent. I gave them to my wife when I got a pair of Bose for the iPhone that are not noise canceling, but sound fantastic. The JVCs sound very good, though. I do not know if they still make them, but that is a good brand to

You should really start by trying some out. I have a set, and when the noise reduction is turned on, it changes the quality of the sound and they give me a headache. A much better bet is a set of full ear-covering headphones, you can get Sony's for $50 at Walmart or the Senheizer's start
