Thank you all for reminding me about the Speak Screen feature.
As it turns out, in iBooks, at least, Speak Screen results in two different
scenarios, the second of which is exactly what I want or, more accurately,
reflects the scenario in

However, two finger flick down on ibooks on the text always do continue reading
from VO anyway.
It does not change from ios7 to 8.2
Do i missed something on ibooks?
And, what does speak screen exactly be useful
Huh? I tried speak screen but normally I just swipe two fingers down in iBooks
and it reads continuously anyway, I still have not seen the true value of speak
screen. However, my brain is pretty fried trying to complete training for a
new job.

Speak screen uses text to speech to read the screen, but not with Voiceover.
You could theoetically multitask using Voiceover in other apps while reading a
book. I might think that you could do this with Braille only using Voiceover
while speak Screen is reading the audio in iBooks, but I
The advantage of speak screen is that it continues to read even when the
screen locks, whereas voiceover will cease reading on a locked screen. In
addition you have the option to select a different voice and speed with
speak screen, not available with the normal voiceover read-all.

Using the speak Screen function will let the book continue when the screen
locks. First turn it on and select the voice you want to use and the speed
in Accessibility setting under Speech. then when in an IBook, first touch
the status bar and then do the two finger swipe down to begin reading
