I wish I had an answer for you. But we are having problems with Contacts as
well. I think it is a voiceover issue because everything seems to work OK
without voiceover. Not exactly the same problem you're having but along the
same lines. In putting things into edit field does not seem to work.

I just went through the same thing as my iPhone 6S Plus was replaced on
warranty and I set the replacement phone up as a new phone, then updated it (it
still had 9.0.2 on it) and then I added my email accounts, contacts etc.
Anyhow, here is what you do:
Go into the contact you want
The same way you add them on the iPhone, grin.
