I just went through this exact decision. At Costco, The price I was quoted for
a Verizon iPhone SE ((probably 64GB) was $380, which likely included the
activation fee, but not the taxes. When I looked on Verizon’s site a bit ago,

My personal opinion is that if you buy it through Verizon you can bargain more
for a plan or some kind of a deal on a phone, and you have the same with Apple
either way. If you opt for Apple Care, you can get it, regardless of where you
buy the phone, and you have the same access to
Apple probably won't offer you any deals or discounts, but your carrier might.
My carrier is T Mobile, and they always offer some kind of deal. When we
bought our iphone 8's we got $300 for each of our old phones on a trade in.
Check with your carrier to see what kind of deals they are
