If that is 100% under Accessibility, larger text sizes, that is extremely
large and can mess up VoiceOver because less text fits on the screen.

That is not normal behavior at all.
Which voice are you using?
What font size do you have set?
You may just need to reboot the phone by holding the power and home buttons
for 8 or 10 seconds and then wait for it to come back on.

I also have an SE and have not experienced this with Tom

Well, after closing & reopening contacts a couple of times the announceing
of initials for each entry as I swipe through them has stopped. Does anyone
know what might of caused this behavior? Thanks again.
