I wonder if this version is the most convenient in reference to price. In 10
years you spend $700, but buying the full version for $250 or so, you spend
less money as the full version lasts for a few years.

I agree with Nimer, you get the best support with the subscription version as
well, at least Jaws seems to focus very much on this, not sure about NVDA.

Yes, security updates to 2016, not to new features or versions. Which is
fine if you don’t care about that kind of thing… But it's important to me,
especially in light of many of the accessibility improvements in recent
