Unless your phone isn't responding at all, I'd avoid the forced shutdown by holding down the home and lock button and just do a normal shutdown by holding down the lock button until the dialog pops up asking if you want to shutdown the phone. Maybe these two types of shutdown are different,

Depends on what version of os you using and also what hardware you have. I found the similar issue with certain apps, Facebook in particular. It works for a minute or two, then it crashes. Sometime is the problem with VO itself, trying to catch up with the app, and sometime it crash totally. I
