Today, I purchased two cookbooks in the iBooks store. I could have purchased them on Kindle, but because I have generally had better luck navigating the specifics of a book and iBooks, I spent my money there. Neither book is

That is a lovely idea. But it would require too much work for no return. I
suspect that's what they would say. Or, it is up to the publisher. And we all
know what that would lead to. Frown. But that doesn't mean we can't suggested.

Oh yes. I have tons of cookbooks especially in voice dream reader, but also in
iBooks, where I used to be able to count on a very nice accessible experience.
Some even have links which can be clicked and take you right to the recipe.
Those are the kind where the publisher of the e-book

Yes, I tried different chapters and different pages within different chapters,
and also the recipe index at the back. Even the recipe index did not read well.
This was a phone and an iPad. The only thing that red worth a darn was the

I believe what's happening here is that some book are simply scanned
images which look identical to the printed versions of the books. In
this case, there's no actual text for Voiceover to read. You'd have to
build in OCR technology which likely wouldn't work perfectly across
all pages and books. Y
A small suggestion here…
I am wondering if we might not suggest to Apple/Amazon/kindle et cetera, that
the easiest way to make more accessible all of their books would be to label
photos? so, if the page contains only a photograph, it should also have a
caption saying what photo it is. in that

recipe books and found them very readable both in iBooks and on VoiceStream
reader. however, these were not books from the Apple Store or iTunes, but,
rather, from general websites. so, my conclusion, recipe books ar
I seldom use iBooks, but when I had vision, in most cookbooks the first page of
each chapter has a photo featuring foods from the chapters recipes. I'm curious
if voiceover is reading this way because there is a photo. If possible, have
you tried advancing a page or two into a chapter to see if
