and a delay in sending your password reset e-mail could happen. I would
wait for a while and try submitting a reset password request again.

You definitely do not want to sign up for a new Apple account. As you
already found out, you can't sign up for an Apple ID with the same email
address twice and if you were to register another Apple ID with another
email address, then none of your previous purchases would be availabl
