Can you use the edit text field to use natural language for your appointment, then edit it as needed. This may require less flicking around as the date you typed or dictated in should show up. Also, I usually just use Siri to enter appointments as I am lazy! :) The only bummer to using Siri is

Another option to resolve this is to create the future event in the native calendar app. So long as access is granted to Fantastical to the calendars (home, etc.) it will be able to pick up the data from the native calendar app. I typically use Fantastical only to create entries such as the
