My first Apple Watch – series 3

2018-05-08 Thread Donna Neff
Hi everyone,

If anyone can answer any of the questions I have concerning the Apple Watch,
series 3 (which I just purchased) I would greatly appreciate it. Overall, I am
thrilled with my new acquisition but I could sure use a little help getting
started.

The first question I have is does anyone know of a quick way to get to the
notifications when they come in? It takes me a while to find where to swipe and
sometimes I get so frustrated that I tap the crown to go back and start over to
look for the alert.

My second question concerns Uber. Is there anyway to order an Uber ride from
the Apple Watch, instead of the iPhone? I saw that I could order a ride but
there was no place, or at least I couldn’t find it, where the frequent
destinations I use are listed.

My third question, and I will stop with this one, is how do I pair my AirPods
with the Apple Watch? I’ve tried the usual method of going into settings,
selecting Bluetooth in pairing, but didn’t have any success. I would like to be
able to listen to music on my I watch while I am on the treadmill or on a brisk
walk. I thought sure the AirPods would work and pair easily.

I hope that isn’t too many questions for one post. Any help, thoughts, or
suggestions will be gratefully received and very much appreciated.

Donna

I am afraid I do not know the anser to your question.

Try searching for over-the-ear loops for your specific earphone model.

Good Luck,

Hi Mark:
Do you know if the second leak cover for the wireless iPads cover would work
for other types of earbuds that go in the ears for wireless use? I have a great
paircover but occasionally they bounce out. And have been looking for something
like this. Thanks for the ideas.

Hello Everyone,

A little over six weeks ago, I ordered the following two products for use with
my Apple EarPods and Apple AirPods.

I have been extremely pleased with them as they function exactly as advertised.

The first item is a set of over-the-ear loops that are designed for use with
Apple EarPods, the ones that ship with the iPhone 7, 8 and X series devices.
I use them everyday on my treadmill as they help keep my EarPods in place as I
exercise.

The second item is a set of over-the-ear loops that are designed for use with
the wireless Apple AirPods, serving the same function as that described, above.

Re: experiences with iphone 8 and galileo/geps reception vs older models?

2018-05-08 Thread Kelly Pierce
The iPhone started supporting Galileo satellites with the iPhone 7
series. Below is a link to an article for backpackers. It describes
reception of navigation satellites in areas with no cell phone
service. Here’s the operative sentence:

“Smartphones like an iPhone 8+, X or Samsung Galaxy S8 outperform a
conventional GPS in almost every way.”

The results of modern smart phones are comparable to a $500 external
GPS device.

Re: Braille Screen Input Has Gone Screwey

2018-05-08 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Save my solution for the last, I hope you get a better one. But about a year
ago, Apple Braille Screen Input really messed up, about every dot was wrong.
The only way I found to fix it was to reset all settings. Be careful, you don't
want the one that erases all your data, just resets all settings. Unfortunately
for me, VoiceOver didn't come back on on its own, and I couldn't use ITunes on
my computer to turn it on, being that I had to respond on my phone to ITunes on
my computer, and Serie was turned off by resetting these settings, so I
couldn't turn it on that way, either. It is the only time I ever have had to
get sighted assistance to do something with this phone. Others on this list say
that their VoiceOver came back on when they reset all settings, mine did not. I
hope you find a better solution, but it did fix the problem. I am using Braille
Screen Input to write this message.

Hi Sandy,

Did you try recalibrating the dots? To do this, put your fingers for dots 4-5-6
on the screen all together, then lift them and do dots 1-2-3. I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

Hi Mark:
Do you know if the second leak cover for the wireless iPads cover would work
for other types of earbuds that go in the ears for wireless use? I have a great
paircover but occasionally they bounce out. And have been looking for something
like this. Thanks for the ideas.

Agreed, it just made sense to me at the time. I think we all do that, chuck
money at a problem and hope it goes away.

All advice appreciated, my choice is my choice how ever logical...

Thanks, BobH.

Hi

Respectfully, that really depends on how you define good advice. The
majority of consumers don't need to purchase equipment to replace that
provided by their ISP's & I'm sure you're part of that majority. Do
you not know the model of your device? It seems silly to me to blindly
throw money at a problem in the hope that it will go away.

Cheers,
Ben.
