Re: voice dream scanner question

Go into the app's settings & confirm that edge detection is on. When aligning the phone with a page, the higher the tone the more the page is properly aligned. The lower the tone pitch the less the page is aligned.Donna

Hello:
I used the voice dream scanner for the first time today.  However, it read half the page from left to right but not the entire information.  What do I need to do to correct this?  Thanks in advance.

I read about this new scale when they sent me an email quite some time ago where they announced it was coming; maybe if I didn't already have a smart scale I'd consider this one, but mine also gives me BMI, body fat, bone mass, water and

Subject: New Apple Health-compatible Withings scale offers weight & body composition analysis

New Apple I wonder if this is going to prove to be accessible.

I have no experience with things sold by this company. I forget what it’s name used to be.

Health-compatible Withings scale offers weight & body composition analysis

AppleInsider  /  n...@appleinsider.com (Andrew Orr)

Health company Withings has launched a new Apple Health compatible smart scale to provide weight and body composition measurements — and even an "Eyes Closed" mode.

The Body Smart scale is the newest addition to the company's line of scales, offering multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensors. The technology is a fast way to measure body composition by examining fat and fat-free body mass and other
 measurements.

Body Smart's improved body composition analysis includes the measurement of visceral fat, which encircles the internal organs and has been associated with a higher risk of diabetes and heart disease. Body Smart also delivers cardiovascular measurements and
analysis by monitoring standing heart rates.

And for the first time, Withings Body Smart will also be able to measure Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR is the number of calories the body burns at rest, providing valuable information about a person's overall metabolic health.

By comparing how many calories a body burns at rest with others of a similar age, Body Smart also uses this to determine metabolic age. After an automatic upgrade, these functionalities will be accessible from May 2023 forward.

Body Smart includes a screen that displays relevant information, but it has an "Eyes Closed Mode" for people who may be uncomfortable with seeing their results. For example, the mode tracks a person's weight in the accompanying app but doesn't display it
 on the screen.

It also shows encouraging, motivating messages or daily information such as step counts, air quality, and the weather.

Withings Body Smart scale — Pricing & Availability

The scale is now available from April 18 at $99.95
through Withings or
on Amazon.

Well, I really like it myself, so I obviously don't find it stupid or
confusing! 

When you go into edit mode and delete an icon on your home page or in one of
your folders, you'll be asked if you just want to delete the icon from your
home page or delete the app altogether.

That helps a lot. Of course the fact that I think it's kind of stupid and
confusing is a whole different topic.

So here's a related question. If I have an app that I can only get to via the
app library, but I would like to put it in a folder -- mainly because I'm just
more comfortable doing things that way. How would I get it out of the library
and into a folder? That looks like a dumb question as I'm typing it but I would
still like to know.

Thanks

Re: Why does the wallet app show in two different places on my iPhone?

2023-04-19 Thread Michael Feir
There may be a quicker way than I know of. The first thing would be to
create the folder or make certain you know which home screen the folder is
on. Creating a folder involves going into edit mode by flicking down when
on a file and double tapping. Next, while in edit mode, drag one or more
apps and then put them ontop of another app to create a folder. It will be
named automatically but you can always change the name later. The files
will be dropped in the folder automatically.
Now that the folder is ready, go past your highest numbered home page and
you'll get into the app library. You then need to find the app you want and
get into edit mode as before. You then can drag an app from the library.
Once you've picked it up, use the three finger right swipes to move back
through your home screens. When you find the home screen with the folder,
flick left and right or touch the screen until you're focussed on the
folder. Flick down and you'll come to an "add to folder" option. Double tap
on that and the apps should be added to the folder. Remember that edit mode
will expire if you pause and do nothing for over thirty seconds. Double tap
on the folder to go into it where you should now find your apps. I have a
more thorough description of all this in my book. It's called Personal
Power: Getting The Most from iOS as a Totally Blind User.

Re: Why does the wallet app show in two different places on my iPhone?

2023-04-19 Thread Kimberly Gardner
That helps a lot. Of course the fact that I think it's kind of stupid
and confusing is a whole different topic.

So here's a related question. If I have an app that I can only get to
via the app library, but I would like to put it in a folder -- mainly
because I'm just more comfortable doing things that way. How would I
get it out of the library and into a folder? That looks like a dumb
question as I'm typing it but I would still like to know.

Thanks

Re: Why does the wallet app show in two different places on my iPhone?

2023-04-19 Thread Michael Feir
Ever since the app library was introduced, it has been possible to have
more than one app icon pointing to the same app. Only one instance of an
app is on your device, but you might have several icons, perhaps on
different home screens or in different folders. Alternatively, it's
possible to not use home screens at all and simply use the app library to
access apps. If you take this approach and hide all of your home screens,
be aware that the app library uses artificial intelligence and tags
submitted by app developers to determine which categories in the library to
put apps in. There's no way to manually organize apps inside the library.
For that, you'll need to use home screens and folders. Hope that helps.

Why does the wallet app show in two different places on my iPhone?

2023-04-19 Thread Kimberly
Hi all,

I’m curious why the wallet app shows in two different places on my iPhone? For
example, it shows on my home screen and also in a folder that I have on my
second screen. Both places contain the same cards and information but why are
they showing twice? Will the app disappear completely if I delete one?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi Vickie

The most practical way to play extended files from Dropbox is to create
afolder in Voice Dream Reader and add the Dropbox material to your Roice Dream
library in much the same way that Bookshare files can be added. HTH

2023-04-19 Thread Robert Doc Wright
When you double tap it on your phone you will find a share button down near the
end. Swipe over to files and double tap.
then double tap save
this will bring you back to dropbox where you can now double tap the file and
it should play.

then I save it in files also or exactly how would I do that? It's coming from
my PC into Dropbox.

This is what I have discovered. You will have to save it to your device.
I would save it in the files app. Once saveed it will take you back to dropbox
and you can play the file. I just did this with a 1.3gb file.
