Hello Terry and all,

I hope everybody is doing well. I use windows live mail with my windows 7
and with both JAWS and NVDA and it runs very
smoothly. It’s exactly the same as outlook express. I don’t know why they
changed its name. I thought it comes in the package
with windows 7. If it doesn’t, and my computer salesman put it there for me
because he knew I used it, then I don’t know where to
get it. However, regarding encouraging you to use it, Yes, I strongly do.

Subject: Somewhat off topic, what do people use on their computers, to check
email?

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to ask this question, as I realize it is a bit off topic.
However, I do not know where to ask such a question.
Are you a Gmail account, and sometimes check email on my phone. But I now have
a computer, and I would like to check the email on
the computer or more, then I would on the phone.
However, I don't know a free program to use. I have tried Thunderbird, and I
like it all right. However I have some problems with
it.
For instance, I have a lot of email in my account. And I do mean a lot! I
cannot seem to get Thunderbird to read my messages in
order, no matter what I do. I want it to read the name of the sender first,
then the date. But I can't seem to change more than one
radio button, for it to do this does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?

If not, are there other free programs out there that would work with Windows 7,
and NVDA?

Thank you very much!

Carrie

Larry, yes. There should be an update for this year that you will likely have
to install. Once you do that, you would enter in your credentials and then you
should be all set.

That would be scroll up with three fingers, then flick left with one. You might
also try directly touching the password edit field with one finger, then
tapping quickly one time with another finger.

Alas, scrolling up with three fingers and flicking down with one did
nothing for me. The Apple Accessibility specialist with whom I spoke
thinks the problem is with apps rather than with IOS. The Audible app
had stopped working. I first tried powering off the phone and then
re-starting, to no avail. I then uninstalled and re-installed the
Audible app. Now I cannot log in.
I emailed Audible tech support early this morning. The representative -
obviously outsourced in another country, wrote back suggesting a
conversation by computer chat or a phone call and asking for a phone
number and a best time to call. I replied with both pieces of
information. That best time has come and gone by several hours. I know
I will end up calling them back.

Re: Somewhat off topic, what do people use on their computers, to check email?

2016-03-02 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
Personally I use Thunderbird. It works very well with Jaws and NVDA.
It is bit complicated to set it up, there are tones of options and
settings but once it's done, you have a client for a lifetime. I
prefer TB because I can back it up and restore on any other machine
in a matter of seconds with each and every mail, address and option
I ever set right there. This is a third machine I'm using
Thunderbird on and the settings are from the first one.
Talking about thunderbird and it's settings is way out of topic here
so I will just mention some other clients.
There's always a MS Outlook, it is integrated in every MS Office
suite and you can choose between MS Outlook XP to MS Outlook 2016
for installing on Windows 7. In my opinion, it is harder to set it
up than Thunderbird.
There's also something called Windows Live Mail and it can be
downloaded in the Windows Essentials package free of charge. This
app is most similar to the old Outlook Express from the Windows XP
and earlier Windows.
There's something called Outlook Express for Windows 7 but this is
unofficial work from some private developers. It is a combination of
old OE and the new Windows Live Mail.
There's also a hacked Windows Mail from Windows Vista which can be
installed on Windows 7 but this really sucks big time.

  Hello everyone,

I am sorry to ask this question, as I realize it is a bit off
topic.
However, I do not know where to ask such a question.
Are you a Gmail account, and sometimes check email on my phone.
But I now have a computer, and I would like to check the email
on the computer or more, then I would on the phone.
However, I don't know a free program to use. I have tried
Thunderbird, and I like it all right. However I have some
problems with it.
For instance, I have a lot of email in my account. And I do mean
a lot! I cannot seem to get Thunderbird to read my messages in
order, no matter what I do. I want it to read the name of the
sender first, then the date. But I can't seem to change more
than one radio button, for it to do this does anyone have any
ideas as to what I can do?

If not, are there other free programs out there that would work
with Windows 7, and NVDA?

Thank you very much!

need to be paying for MLB TV or at bat.

Hi,
I'm wondering which music service to go with, which is better, Pandora,
spotify, or apple music. What I'm aiming to do is I don't just want to listen
to one genre or artist, I want a huge mix of genres, songs, and artists based
on what my music interests are. I know Pandora does this, but aren't there
accessibility shortcomings? Also, will apple music/itunes radio work for this
purpos? I know that's accessible? Any thoughts and recommendations would be
appreciated.

Re: Pop up buttons

2016-03-02 Thread Regina Alvarado

Hi, when there is a pop-up button and you double tap it opens so that a what is
called a picker comes up with choices as in a menu in Windows. So, you double
tap and below where you tap it will say pop-up button picker. In order to pick
what you want, you will flick up and down with one finger. When you find the
choice you want it is supposed to stay there while you find the done button
which is usually about halfway down the screen on the right side. However, I
have noticed that a lot of these buttons will close before you find done and
your selection is gone. So, keep trying and have patience and it will work and
pop up button will be replaced with your choice. Then you can go to the next
thing. Somewhat frustrating, and if anyone else has a better way to deal with
these, I am all ears and would appreciate the description also. 

Glad to have helped.

Yeah, it's a terrific function. I do most of my article reading on the

The reader button presents the content of a web page in a clean, VO friendly
format. When you hear VO say reader available, locate the address bar at the
top of the screen then flick left. Double tap the reader button then perform a
two finger flick to begin reading your content.

I hope this helps.

Somewhat off topic, what do people use on their computers, to check email?

2016-03-02 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

I am sorry to ask this question, as I realize it is a bit off topic.
However, I do not know where to ask such a question.
Are you a Gmail account, and sometimes check email on my phone. But I now
have a computer, and I would like to check the email on the computer or
more, then I would on the phone.
However, I don't know a free program to use. I have tried Thunderbird, and
I like it all right. However I have some problems with it.
For instance, I have a lot of email in my account. And I do mean a lot! I
cannot seem to get Thunderbird to read my messages in order, no matter what
I do. I want it to read the name of the sender first, then the date. But I
can't seem to change more than one radio button, for it to do this does
anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?

If not, are there other free programs out there that would work with
Windows 7, and NVDA?

Thank you very much!

Carrie

RE: Trouble opening password editfields

Try scrolling past the edit field with a three finger swipe up.
Then, flick with one finger back to the password field.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a bug is back with 9.2.1.
I've had to do that with a couple edit fields including a password field lately.

I am using an iPhone 6+ running IOS 9.2.1. A month or more ago, I found
that I am having trouble entering passwords on login screens.
Editfields do not open when I double-tap them. I usually tap first with
my index finger and do the second tap with my middle finger. I have
tried touching the password editfield with a finger on my right hand and
tapping with a finger on my left hand, but that doesn't help, either.
Are others having this problem? Is the problem caused by not having a
phone that has 3D touch?

What's up problems

2016-03-02 Thread Afik Sofer
Hello WhatsApp developers, hope you guys are doing well. I am here with you
guys to report few bugs I encountered after the whatsapp update version which
was released on the 29/2/16, version 2.12.14.
1. After the update its very slow.
2. This version has Accessibility bugs like when VoiceOver user is swiping
through the conversation specially with voice messages the focus is jumping
straight to the top of the chat window.
 3. While the user is recording a voice clip its getting cut off from the
beginning of the message and at the end.
4. Sometimes the audio roots to the earpiece, while the user is recording a
voice clip.
5. For the last 5 updates we experience inability to get into the delete or
forward menu. (Voipceover users can only forward or delete one message at a
time, and we can only forward to another whatsapp user and not to mail or any
other app on the iphone).
6. When we choose edit, it makes a double tick and automatically chooses the
'forward' option that's in the forwartd menu, and it does not let us edit
anything.
You're highly help would be appreciated.

Re: A Question About Safari Reader in iOS 9.x

2016-03-02 Thread Kimberly
The reader button presents the content of a web page in a clean, VO friendly
format. When you hear VO say reader available, locate the address bar at the
top of the screen then flick left. Double tap the reader button then perform a
two finger flick to begin reading your content.

I hope this helps.

A Question About Safari Reader in iOS 9.x

2016-03-02 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am truly embarrassed to ask what must be, to some, a very basic question
but ...

Exactly how does one use the reader feature in Safari for iOS?

Sometimes, I land on a page at which point VoiceOver says, "reader
available". What exactly does this mean and what steps do I take if I wish
to use it?

Thank you,

Mark
