iPhone 7 lightening port and audio

2016-12-22 Thread Gordon
So this started happening on my iPhone after getting the update to 10.2.
I plug in the ear buds or regular head phones using the adapter. I pull
up iheart radio or apple music and listen to some music. Everything
works fine until I hit the home button or sometimes when I stop the
music. At that point audio moves back to the phone speakers and I have
to unplug and plug in to get audio back through the head phones. So am I
having some lightening port issues or is anyone else experiencing this?
The phone charges fine and there doesn't appear to be any other issues.
I first noticed this when getting the 10.2 update. Also it sometimes
happens if a station is taking a little more time than usual to load.

I am using this app in my both phones, i.e. iPhone and android. Its
simply amaizing! Nevertheless I would accept that it may not work on
the labels having dark background. But its wonderful in reading
computer screen, notice boards and the papers having light background
with dark colour text on them.

RE: Looking for an app, please,

2016-12-22 Thread Alan Lemly
Maria,

I just checked a flight scheduled to land at my home airport in the next half
hour. Under the tracking button, FlightView contains a Details button which
will give you text in-flight info such as the current ground speed and altitude
of the flight and Voiceover speaks this without a problem. There is also a Map
button which will show graphically the location of the flight on a map but with
no Voiceover reading of the map information.

One of my favorite features of FlightView is its push notifications of airport
departure, takeoff, landing, and gate arrival of flights being tracked with it.

I hope this helps.

Alan

Please, would you mind trying real tracking feature sometimes and tell me if
that works with Voiceover?

KNFB works well for me too. Occasionally, I must keep playing with a

read the whole manual, I suggest you do. The tips and tricks in there were

+1 on the Flightview app! I have the free version, and use it all the time.
It is great for finding out flight information, and it does track flights
in real time. However the map is very visual and there's no voiceover input
at all. But if you look on the flight information it will always give you
the estimated arrival time, and gives flight duration in real time.

I am assuming the difference between paid version and free version is my
free version has advertisement on the bottom.

Re: How do you uninstall Blind Tunes scripts that work with iTunes and Jaws

2016-12-22 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I remember the reply you got to your question, but I have long since deleted
it, so I can not paraphrase the answer within it. When I read it, it made
sense to me, but I remember that when I wanted to uninstall them from my
computer several years ago, the answer in that reply would not have worked for
me at that time. I ended up having to completely uninstall jaws, then reinstall
it. I said then that I think that when a company issues scripts for something,
they should be required to provide a way to remove them without having to
uninstall the program they are meant to improve. I hope you find a better way.

Setting up new phone

2016-12-22 Thread Joney
I would do an update on what had happened with the phone. We took my Sim card,
and please get a phone that had not been reset to factory settings. Then, when
the code was sent, we were able to put it on an other phone under my phone
number. We began the addition of the software, and then moved it back so that I
had it in my phone. It's an idea for any when else who runs into this problem
later. Also, even with the encrypted install, we found that some of the apps
did not come over. You can go into the App Store, updates, purchased, and
double tap on items not an iPhone. You can scroll down through the batch of
applications that are there and download the ones you want. Hopefully the phone
will except them then.

2016-12-22 Thread Jewel
It is recommended that the camera be held at a distance of about 12 inches from
the page.

Try holding your phone higher

from what you're trying to capture and see if you have better results.
I've found that about six inches is good.

How do you uninstall Blind Tunes scripts that work with iTunes and Jaws

2016-12-22 Thread John Christie
Someone tried to answer this question before but I didn't get any results
from their answer. How do you uninstall blind tunes scripts that work with
Jaws and that are in some folder on my computer that I am using. I am using
Windows 7 and they can't be uninstalled using programs and features. I
don't know what folder they are in. Thanks allot.

We use knfb for all kinds of packages. While the results often are far from
perfect, we most often get enough information to tell us what we need to know.

Re: getting started with knfb reader

2016-12-22 Thread Richard Turner

Before deciding to try for a refund, which I doubt you would get since so many
people use this app successfully on a daily basis, maybe read the documentation
and make sure you have things set correctly.
Also, deleting and reinstalling the app might help. Plus, make sure you are not
running a bunch of other apps at the same time. Especially with an iPhone 5.
While the processor is fine, it is a 32 bit processor and the app definitely
puts a strain on the resources given what it does.
If you are scanning a page of text you want the camera at least 10 to 12 inches
above the page.
It is not designed for packages, unless you are talking about a box, or to
other flat package. Also, the array of fonts and colors used on packaging will
give any scanner problems, even the $1000 OpenBook on a computer using a good
scanner.
If you primarily what package information, use TapTapSee or iDentifi to find
out what it is then look it up on
www.directionsforme.com

That is Directions For Me dot com.

Richard

It’s pretty finicky about your stuff having to be flat for one thing, and
it’s also sensitive to lighting for another. He tells me that LED lighting
gives it trouble because of their color profile or something. Also, if you
have a light above it, say a chandelier above a table, as he has in his
dining room, and you put a document down on the table and hold your device
above the document, it can create a shadow which impairs OCR. This is
something that might not occur to a blind person who might not understand
why they’re not getting any results.
He says it does work a good part of the time, although not flawlessly, even
if lighting is good and the document is flat, but with these kinds of
caveats you shouldn’t expect too much.

Is there a trick to using this app or have I just wasted $100 of my

Re: getting started with knfb reader

2016-12-22 Thread Donald Raikes
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. So far none of them has helped.

Are there any good alternatives to knfb reader? I sometimes need to
read stuff when my wife is unavailable, and I thought I had heard good
things about this app.

Also any idea how to get my money back from the app store :) ?

Merge Button Remains Dimmed When Placing a 3-way Call

2016-12-22 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Being that I have never made a 3-way call on an IPhone, I couldn't help my
friend who asked me this question. She had no problem making a 3-way call on
her IPhone 6, but she can't do it on her new 7. The merge button remains dimmed
when she gets the third party on the line and attempts to merge the two calls.
Has something changed with the new IOS update? Any ideas? Thanks for any
information.

Re: AirPods - first impressions

2016-12-22 Thread Brian Fischler
Can someone who has gotten the new pods confirm that you can listen to audio
with only one air pod in? I read about an auto pause feature that would kick in
when you take one air pod out of your ear, so want to make sure you can listen
to audio with only one of the pods in your ear since I walk around most of the
time with only one bud in so I can hear what is going on around me. Thanks,

Re: getting started with knfb reader

2016-12-22 Thread Evan Reese
No try before you buy feature. It was on sale for several days last month for
$65, but it went back up to full price on December 1.
>From what I heard from a computer savvy friend of mine with high partial
>vision who’s played with it, I don’t think I’ll buy it unless it comes down
>quite a bit further in price.
It’s pretty finicky about your stuff having to be flat for one thing, and it’s
also sensitive to lighting for another. He tells me that LED lighting gives it
trouble because of their color profile or something. Also, if you have a light
above it, say a chandelier above a table, as he has in his dining room, and you
put a document down on the table and hold your device above the document, it
can create a shadow which impairs OCR. This is something that might not occur
to a blind person who might not understand why they’re not getting any results.
He says it does work a good part of the time, although not flawlessly, even if
lighting is good and the document is flat, but with these kinds of caveats you
shouldn’t expect too much.

Re: getting started with knfb reader

2016-12-22 Thread Gordon
The Android version is the only one that lets you try before you buy.
Not sure why the IOS version doesn't offer this. With Android you get 25
documents you can scan to try it out.

Try holding your phone higher

from what you're trying to capture and see if you have better results.
I've found that about six inches is good.

Two-Step Security In IDevices?

2016-12-22 Thread rajmund

hello,
code changes every time. if it was, say 939341, you could enter it like
that, one after another, with no spaces.Hi, list.

I gotta question about the two-step-security for IDevices.

I have Iphone5S with IOS10.2.

I downloaded the latest Itune today and when I tried to backup my IPhone
on my laptop, it asked me for two-step-varification, a six-digit code
besides Apple ID and password.

Apple sent me the six-digit-code to my Iphone which they wanted me to
enter to my laptop prior to backingup my IPhone5S.

I have 2 questions here:

1.

Is this six-digit code permanent or each time I would receive a new code?

2.

How should I enter this string of digits, all in a row or each digit in
a separate column?

Thanks much for your help.

Re: Two-Step Security In IDevices?

2016-12-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hello,

The code will always be different. YOu won't have to enter one very often,
though.

Each digit goes in its own edit box. Make sure you're on the first one, and
type the first digit. Focus will go to the next one automatically, so just wait
a little bit and then type the next digit. Do the same for the others, and you
should be all set.

Best,
Anna

Two-Step Security In IDevices?

2016-12-22 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I gotta question about the two-step-security for IDevices.

I have Iphone5S with IOS10.2.

I downloaded the latest Itune today and when I tried to backup my IPhone on
my laptop, it asked me for two-step-varification, a six-digit code besides
Apple ID and password.

Apple sent me the six-digit-code to my Iphone which they wanted me to enter
to my laptop prior to backingup my IPhone5S.

I have 2 questions here:

1.

Is this six-digit code permanent or each time I would receive a new code?

2.

How should I enter this string of digits, all in a row or each digit in a
separate column?

Thanks much for your help.

Re: Looking for an app, please,

2016-12-22 Thread Alan Lemly
I love the FlightView app for getting gate info ant other info about my
flights. It does real time tracking but I've never used this feature. It comes
in a free, a 99 cent, and an elite version but I don't recall their
differences. I have the elite version and it works great with VoiceOver and I
find its interface intuitive and easy to use.

Good luck.

2016-12-22 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi,

What you've encountered is 2 factor authentication - note that this is
different to 2 step verification. Essentially, the idea is that
instead of authenticating with one piece of information - E.G. your
password, you authenticate with 2, the second thing being something
that is a lot harder to obtain such as a code via SMS. This is however
floored logic as a determined attacker can easily intercept SMS
messages at which point the point of 2FA is completely nul & void. I'd
also respectfully point out that it has nothing to do with DFU /
recovery mode.
Apple has a page detailing what you can do if you find yourself in
situations such as the one that you've found yourself in.

I'll need my sighted wife's help to answer your question, as soon as I can get
it I'll let you know.

I think I said something misleading though when I said that it's "full-sized"
when unfolded; it is large, and has all the keys, but it does not have a numeric keypad;
users of Windows screen readers may want to know this short-coming.

I have not yet found any accessible documentation from Microsoft, and I've been in
contact with their accessibility desk twice about this; the only documentation they could
find for me was the generic "safety" warnings, thrown in with any electronic
device. Very disappointing, as I don't think the printed documentation which is included
with it says anything more; they just count on you being able to see the key caps and
figure things out.

Yes Billy, you can pair 3 devices at once with this keyboard, and switch between them
