Looking for some new ring tones

2017-04-12 Thread Jed Barton

Hey guys,

Any good places or programs to get some good new ring tones and text
tones for the iphone? Looking for a lot of basic rings, text tones and
stuff. Trying to stay away from music, cause with loud music tracks,
when the ring tone is going off, it really takes voiceover out of the
pictures.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jed

Re: Making Video?

2017-04-12 Thread Kathy Brandt
I am not on iOS 10, but the answer should still be the same: go to camera, and
in their flick till you see camera mode; it will say photo probably. At this
point flick either up or down, like you would when in a picker; one of the
options will be video. After choosing, flick to the right to where it says
record video.

Switching iPad ID/ownership without having to reset

2017-04-12 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

So my wife and I have i-devices. She’s got an iPad Air II that is under my
name as we first started off with the second gen iPad and have restored the
new iPads from backups from the previous devices. Since Family sharing
wasn’t available back in the day, this is how we started out and have just
kept it going.

I’d like to know, if it’s possible to switch ownership of this iPad from my
iCloud account to hers without having to go through the whole reset process
and her having to install everything from scratch. Basically, we’d like to
simply keep her iPad structure exactly how it is. Apps, layout loaded
photos, music, etc. the way it is.

I’m the family sharing organizer and already have a couple of family members
under meThanks,

Cristobal

RE: A Quick Question for All You iOS Old Time Radio Fans, Regarding the LibriVox App

What is LibriVox? Is it free?

Re: Audiobooks and tune in radio premium

2017-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
Well, the good thing is that the premium subscription works across both
platforms, so that is a plus. As regards the audio Books, the correspondence I
had with the folks at tune in, who are much more responsive than they had been
in the past, wasn't too encouraging, in that there doesn't seem to be a way to
really see a substantial list of genres or browse by genres or release dates
etc. You can of course search for a title or author. And there are some genres,
but unless I'm missing something, there's no way to see really extensive list.
Since their book collection is 60,000 in number, it would seem that they need
to do some more organizing and making things available rather than you having
to know a specific title or author.

How can I make a video from my IPhone5S with IOS10.3.

I found the camera and was able to take pictures, however, in Videos, I had
found videos only but nothing to shoot video.

Where should I look for the controls to make videos, please?

Thanks!

2017-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
Yes, well I include the NFL certainly. Because I do like to listen to that. And
it is expensive. So I'm trying my trial and will see you at the end of that
whether I keep the subscription or not. Of course, right now, the NFL is not in
season. And I got the free year of baseball from T-Mobile. So for me, the
subscription at this point is all about seeing how I can deal with finding
audiobooks reasonably efficiently and also whether the premium talk and music
content is worth it.

2017-04-12 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Mary,
I think where you save money is not having to pay for the NFL, MLB At Bat is
only $20 per year. While the NFL is outrageously priced even if you only want
one team. I could understand it perhaps for those who want TV, but just for
radio coverage, it is ridiculous.

That’s my two cents worth.

Hi Michael,
I am familiar with that Kindle unlimited service, but you don't get the really
top best sellers there. It's still a good deal if you like to try things and if
you don't like it, it didn't cost you anything except for the monthly
subscription, of course.
I have been a serious consumer of audible books, and the credits are about $10
each if you have the platinum subscription, which gives you 24 credits per
year. I was thinking that if the tune in service work efficiently usable, I
might save some money, because I don't really need to own the audible books. I
know it doesn't have everything of course. But I thought with the NFl and
major-league baseball, there might be some savings there, not having to pay for
baseball. Anyway, if they don't have a good way to let you really see what is

Tune in discovery

2017-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
Well, I was wrong about not being able to get the yearly subscription for tune
in premium. It doesn't show up the way you suppose it would, if you go to the
premium choice in the menu. But I was just listening to an audiobook, which
offered me the chance to subscribe to premium after the free sample ended. And
lo and behold, there was the opportunities to subscribe for a full year for $99
after the end of the free 30 days. So I took it. 30 days should be plenty of
time to try to find just how you deal with the big book collection. I already
know that you can search on the words audiobooks and come up with more choices
than they offer if you just go to "premium content"

Hi Mary, from what I saw, there was no way I really seeing all
the books. I agree major drawback. There are so many other services but again
they seem to be limited. I saw one where you can read books and send them back
but again Amazon right now is OK. I wish there was one that met all of our needs

Audiobooks and tune in radio premium

2017-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
Hi all, I have set my question to the folks at tune in, but my experience with
them has been that they take just about forever to respond to anything you
send, if they actually respond that is. So, is there anyone on here who is
subscribed to the premium service and uses the audiobooks? You can go into the
content and see bestsellers, notable reads, and a couple of other little
collections, set off by heading. But I can't find a way to really effectively
or efficiently search the collection, browsing by genre or searching by author
or setting series of release dates for a search etc. I know about the search
tab, but that seems to be all about radio stations and perhaps podcast, but not
audiobooks. They say they have 60,000 audiobooks. The titles they actually show
you are far fewer than 100. So surely there must be a way to see what else they
have in some sort of efficient manner?
Mary

Re: Question going to the movies and iphone, audiodescription

2017-04-12 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hello Gianni,

Disney Movies anywhere has descriptions for most Pixar movies, and there's an
app called Movie Reading that is supposed to do descriptions, but it works with
very few movies. Those are the only ones I know about. However, many new movies
do have descriptions. To hear them, ask the theater for a headset. They loan
you the headset during the movie, and the description track plays on it. I live
in a pretty small town, and our theater has this technology, so I think most do
at this point. You might want to call your theater before you go just to be
sure, though.

Best,
Anna

I am a fan of the Boss Jock app. It is very accessible, affordable, and is
probably more recording and editing power than most people need.

Question going to the movies and iphone, audiodescription

2017-04-12 Thread Gianni
Hi,
In Belgium there is an app earcatch. It gives audio description when you are
watchin a movie in a cinema. My family wants to take me to fast and furious 8.
Is there an american app or something like that for this movie?

Re: Tune in radio questions

2017-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
The tune in books are not in the public domain. At least not all of them. If
you go into tune in, even if you're not subscribe, you can see some featured
audiobooks or top audiobooks. They are all recent books, clearly not in the
public domain. But I have no idea how tune in gets its subset of books from
what I presume is the Audible catalog.

Getting back to Mary's TuneIn Premium features question, does anyone know
what distinguishes the 40.000 free audiobooks from the larger catalogue of

Thanks.

Also, tune in radio is integrated in Sonos. Don’t think it is premium, but i
pay for jazzradio.com who has an Sonos app kind off, to use within Sonos, then
Sonos uses Tune in radio to play this jazzradio.com subscription.

1. i pay for jazzradio.com The best jazz radio station out there.
2. Uses Sonos app to listen.
3. Sonos uses Tune In radios «mine radiostations» to serve me the jazz music.

Just another choice. Not the best for everyone, but a choice to get good jazz
music.

Take care

Re: Massive Update?

2017-04-12 Thread Dave
my iPhone 6s, is still on 9.3.5, and when i looked at the size of the update,
to 10.3.1, it says, that it is only 1.2gig.

I thought it would be a lot bigger. So not sure, how it works out.

Dave.

Subject: Massive Update?

Hey Guys,
I’m updating my iPad Mini 4 now from iOS 10.2.1 to 10.3. I’m doing it through
iTunes, and it’s telling me that it is downloading 2.35 gigabytes! Can this be
right for a (what I thought) was not a major update! Does it download the whole
OS every time an update comes out?
Thanks for any info.
Evan
