I don’t know, but I would think there must be. I’ve bought cases for my iPad
Air from Anker.com, and I’d be surprised if they don’t have what you want.

Re: A question about dictation

2017-07-01 Thread Mary Otten
That method of holding down the home button and saying send a message to John
followed by what you want to say works quite well. That is my standard method
of sending text messages, and as long as there are no gross dictation errors,
it works great and you can send a full paragraph or so without Siri the siding
you had enough.

Mike,

You will have to manually type the person’s name if in your contacts, or the
phone number/email address in to the “to” box. The nice thing is, if they
are in your contacts, you should only have to type part of the name and you
will find a list of suggestions below the “to” box. Double tap the
appropriate suggestion and then find the message field and double tap it. At
this point you can dictate all you wish. I’ve gotten in the habit of not
deleting my text messages so I can just find a prior conversation and can
easily message someone.
I hope this helps.

Is there a verbal command to change the line during dictation? Or the only
option is to pause and then change the line and then resume dictation?

RE: A question about dictation

2017-07-01 Thread Richard Turner
That’s just it. You would have to manually enter who it is going to, then
double tap in the message edit box, then you could use the standard dictate
feature.
But, if yu ask Siri to send a text message to John, you won’t have the chance
to use dictation.
I don’t know what happens if you hold the home button down and say send a text
to john and say x, and don’t let up until you are finished.

Might be worth a try.

Richard

Mike,

One thing you can do is hold the home button the entire time that you wish Siri
to listen to you, this should eliminate the problems you have with pausing. I
do agree that using dictation seems easier because you can pause and resume
dictation using the 2 finger double tap.
I hope this is of some help.

You could try standing on your head and singing, grin, but I think you will
find that there is nothing you can do to get Siri to wait.
It is very impatient in my humble opinion.
So, one has to have their thoughts together before starting. That is why I
often write it out using MBraile and pasting it in.

Hi,
I don't know if this is correct, but it seems as though I do better when I
dictate a message and need more time rather than using Siri. I do use her quite
a bit for dictating messages but I feel like I have a little more time using
the dictation feature.
Take care.

Is there a verbal command to change the line during dictation? Or the only
option is to pause and then change the line and then resume dictation?

RE: How to get pictures off an iPod onto a PC

2017-07-01 Thread Alan Lemly
Keith,

When I attach my iPhone 7 to my Windows 7 computer with its lightning cable, an
AutoPlay dialog box pops up with options to:

1. Import pictures and videos using Windows

2. Import pictures and videos using Dropbox

3. Other options not relevant to your question.

I've had success in the past using option 1 to transfer photos from my iPhone
to my computer and it's the route I'd recommend for your daughter.

Hi,

My daughter has an iPod with lots of photos. She’s gearing up to get an iPhone
in the next few weeks.

She wants to get photos off the iPod onto her PC.

Can someone please remind me how this is done’t, so I can help her?

And, will this process work for videos made with the iPod, too?

Thanks in advance, Keith

Why not just use iPhoto, or iCloud backup. If you don’t like those options,
use google photos, it has unlimited storage for photos and videos, and allows
you to download copies whenever you want.

I will move that out of the iPad section with that caveat.

hi Richard,
because you're wonderful list is "ever expanding", so is my investigative
memory! I think you haven't mentioned this one: and I am not sure if I have it
exactly right, but I do use it very often: with the rotor said two words, flick
down once to the end of a targeted word, then double tap and hold, you get a
list of edit functions, sometimes immediately to the left of the cursor and
sometimes at the very bottom right of the screen, this seems to vary, one of
which being "look up". double tap that and the dictionary opens. you will get a
list of dictionary definitions, including other languages, if you have those
enabled. not sure how you would describe this in a quick and Zappy form… but it
is a key and, I suspect, underused function of iOS.

thanks for compiling this list, Sandy

A question about dictation

2017-07-01 Thread TaraPrakash
Hi all.

Is there a verbal command to change the line during dictation? Or the only
option is to pause and then change the line and then resume dictation?

With appreciation

T
for your responses

What a silly design. I shouldn't have to use headphones if I am watching the
movie at home. I hope that they fix that. After all, if they hope to add
more movies, it stands to reason the movies they do have will be available
through streaming services which might not choose to carry the description
for that particular title.

I copied the below from the AppleVis newsletter. This is a new approach to
getting audio description in the theater using your iPhone.
They only have Cars 3 right now, but are planning to have more movies soon.
The more people that download the app and go through the tutorial, the more
insentive both the developer and Hollywood have in making movies with audio
description available this way. Note, when you start the app for the first
time, you will need wired headphones plugged in because when you get to the
download portion, it won't work without headphones, to train us that we
won't be able to annoy the people around us in the movie theater by playing
the audio description over the iPhone speaker, grin.
They recommend downloading the movie content over WiFi at home so you won't
have to use cellular data at the theater.

Actiview - Empowered Entertainment (iOS, Free)

Actiview is your all-in-one app for accessibility content at the movies!

When you go to an Actiview enabled movie theater, connect to the Wi-Fi and
choose from the available services, including:

-Audio Description -Amplified Audio -Closed Captioning -Multi-language
Captioning -Sign Language Interpretation

All of this content will be synced to the movie and streamed right to your
device, no other setup required!

RE: Ever expanding list of VoiceOver Gestures

2017-07-01 Thread Richard Turner
Sandra, keep the expanding memory working, but this one is rather inconsistent,
or at least I’m rather inconsistent with it.
On my 5S, I got it to work a couple times.
On a system I can’t discuss, I have not been able to get it to work.
I’m going to hold off on this one until I am sure I can make it work and
describe it fairly briefly.
I noticed that the four finger swipe left and right seems to work on the iPhone
6 and later. It does not work on my 5S.
I will move that out of the iPad section with that caveat.

Thanks for helping get this list as complete as possible.

hi Richard,
because you're wonderful list is "ever expanding", so is my investigative

• Select and speak the item: Touch with one finger.
• Select the next or previous item: Swipe right or left with one finger.
• Select an item on the rotor: Swipe up or down with one finger. Depends on
the rotor setting. * Also used to access various options on apps, Email
messages, etc. Anywhere VoiceOver says "Actions available."
• Using the Rotor: Place two fingers on the screen like you were going to turn
a knob, hold them against the screen and twist left or right Select the next or
previous rotor item. Examples of items on the rotor are: speech rate,
character, word, line, heading. You can add other items to the rotor in the

two fingers rapidly in a small circle or slide two fingers back and forth three
times quickly (making a “z”)
• Speak Screen: Touch the status bar with one finger and swipe down with two
fingers; only works if Speak Screen is turned on in settings, general,
accessibility, speech. VO will continue reading even if the screen is locked.
• Scroll one page up or down at a time: Three-finger swipe up or down.
• Three-finger swipe right or left. For example): Go to the next or previous
page (on the Home screen.
• Open Notification Center: touch the status bar and swipe down with three
fingers.
• Open Control Panel: Touch status bar and swipe up with three fingers.
• Open Spotlight Search: Touch on the home screen below the status bar and
above the dock and swipe down with three fingers.
• Speak additional information, such as position within a list or whether text
is selected: Three-finger tap.
• Copy last thing spoken by VoiceOver to the clipboard: three-finger quadruple
tap.

• When a non-VoiceOver user needs to Double-tap an item: VO users need to
Triple-tap with one finger.
• Use a standard gesture: Double-tap and hold (1 second) + standard gesture.
The double-tap and hold gesture tells iPhone to interpret the next gesture as
standard. For example, you can double-tap and hold your finger on the screen
until you hear three rising tones, and then without lifting your finger, drag
your finger on a slider. (Also known as the Pass Through Gesture.)
• Tap 2 times on the clock in status bar to scroll to top in any app.
•To start or stop an action: Two-finger double-tap. This gesture initiates an
action or halts or pauses an action in progress. For example, you can:
•Answer or end a call.
•Play or pause in Music, Videos, Voice Memos, or Photos (slideshows).
•Take a photo in Camera.

I want an app, but forgot what the name of this app was...

2017-07-01 Thread Lev

Hi,

As subject says I'm looking for this app on appstore but totally forgot
the name,

I know with this app you can do some funny stuff like rewind and audio
or forwarding, cut or just play a selected segment of the audio, and
save the new track,

I guess it's a little bit like audio edition, it has been discuss on
this list and on the description of the app on appstore said it was
voice over friendly.

I think this app is developed by a japanese developer, I'm not sure though.

Another remark, also on the description said very good for people who is
learning another languages.

does anybody have an idea?

Re: Ever expanding list of VoiceOver Gestures, with headings and an iPad only section.

2017-07-01 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi,
You say "for iPad only" four finger slide left or right, to go to previous or
next open app. this works on my iPhone 6 too!

Re: Ever expanding list of VoiceOver Gestures

2017-07-01 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi Richard,
because you're wonderful list is "ever expanding", so is my investigative

Re: Question About Facetime Audio and Battery Status

2017-07-01 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
My apologies you’re correct I meant 10.3.2 no matter how many years one has
been typing your finger can land wrongly. Yes I was in fact referring to the
most recent stable public version as I never put a beta on my main device.
My apologies for the lack of preciseness in describing.

  Hi,
Last night I had occasion to visit with a friend via facetime audio on my
iPhone 7Plus running iOS 10.3.3 I believe is the most recent version number.
And while doing this I observed some behavior with VoiceOver I’ve never
witnessed before. Suddenly while on this Facetime call whether I was in the
Facetime screen or anywhere else it mattered not I couldn’t get VoiceOver to
read my battery status at all. It could read other icons on the status like
such as cellular signal strength, wi-fi strength, the time but when I got
further towards that top right-hand corner it just said nothing at all and made
the clicking noise you sometimes hear when swiping through elements on screen.
Has anyone else ever seen anything like this and what on earth is the cause?
the person with whom I was chatting was on an iPhone 6 and had no issues
seeing his battery status. It is quite the curiosity. Thanks for any light you
could shed on this for me.
  Robin

Beta users, please help me with this report

2017-07-01 Thread afik Suffir

Hello, attached is my report to apple. You may add your own bugs and send
them. We have to report it many times so they’ll fix it.

Dont forget to attach the accessibility settings and the diagnostic.

Here is the report.

In the past, when holding the command, plus VO key plus the arrows, you could
change voice over parameters easily. Now, you have to add the shift key. Like,
command, plus VO key, plus shift, plus the arrows to change the parameters. Can
you change it back to normal behavior?

In addition, when exploring around the doc with voice over, its says “safari
not found, mail not found, and so on.” But, its there. So, why its say not
found? When I press the “not found,” its open up the app.

Steps, just explore the doc.
