Re: Keyboards for iPhone.

2017-08-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
This does seem to be a function of the keyboard. It sounds like a
contact is being made when pressing the space bar in the middle but not
on either end. I don't think there's anything the iPhone or any software
on the phone can do about this.

Hello again,

On my last email, regarding the spacebar issue for my new Logitech
K480 keyboard... I have been playing with it a bit,a nd it does not
seem to be a malfunction of the keyboard. If I hit the keyboard's
spacebar directly in the center it types a space every time. If you
hit towards either end it does not activate the spacebar.

Please let me know if others are having this issue. I tend to type
really quickly, so having to listen to hear if the spacebar activated
or not is a pretty big issue for me. I would love to hear what others
are doing about this.

I like the bluetooth keyboard Anker puts out. Inexpensive, but good
action on the keys and fairly compact. It doesn't come with its own
case, so you may want to get one if you want to take it places.

Re: Seeing AI and PDFs

2017-08-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, it does sound like we're talking about a PDF that contains a
scanned image of a document. This would have to go through some OCR
first, and I think that's what the person is asking. They're asking if
Seeing AI, and not VoiceOver, can perform the OCR on this image so
VoiceOver has some text to read. They aren't asking if VoiceOver can
read the text out of an image itself.

BTW, JAWS and NVDA have OCR utilities built into them, so you can get
some OCR with those screen readers.

one foundation

2017-08-07 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi, to those who play one foundation. I don't understand how to move cards.
Can someone enlighten me please. I get that you can only stack one card
before and one after a card, but when I tap them they don't seem to move.
This seems like a game I might like even if it is for a short time since it
probably won't work with IOS 11. Thanks.

God bless!

I thought I had done that, but on closer consideration remembered that it
didn't work so I used short text to read the screen on my computer and did

Volume Levels For Hearing & Tones

2017-08-07 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

My wife & I use the S E , 6 iPhone models, but she's sighted, & I'm blind.
On my phone I have it set so you can adjust the hering levels while on the
phone without affecting the alert / tones volume levels with the volume
buttons on the side of the phone.

Well, I've got her phone set the same, but somehow her alert & tone levels
change when she uses the side buttons to control the hearing volume level
when she's on the phone. Would y'all please tell me what settings I need to
change, & where to find them to stop this from happening?! All help will be
greatly appreciated! Thanks mooy moocho.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Re: Battery status of Apple Bluetooth keyboard

2017-08-07 Thread Michael Feir
There are some products which communicate their charge level to your iOS
device. You can either find out on the status line at the top of the screen
or in the Battery section of the today view which VoiceOver called page 1
of your home screen. Sadly, many external batteries and other peripheral
devices like Bluetooth keyboards simply don't do this. There is often
absolutely no accessible way to determine batterly level short of using an
app like Identifi or Seeing AI to try and take a picture and get a
description of how many small lights are indicating battery charge. That's
not an easy approach but it's the only wild idea I have which has
occasionally worked for me. The Harbolt company sells a 15000 MA external
battery which gives vibration and audio indicators of charge level. It's
the only such device I've ever come across.

Short of acquiring something like that, the only approach is to maintain
good charging habbits and plug things in to charge regularly so they're not
out of power while you need them.

RE: Seeing AI and PDFs

2017-08-07 Thread Alan Lemly
Actually, PDF documents can contain screen-readable text although it sounds as
if the current one under discussion is an image of text which must be run
through some OCR process before it can be read.

Activation server not available message when seetin up an old iPhone

2017-08-07 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I'm trying to set up an IPhone 5, not a 5c or 5s, but just a 5. There is an
inactive sim card in place. I can successfully enter my wifi router info, and
am getting 3 of 3 wifi bars.

When It goes to the Activation step, there is a several minute pause, and then
the message, Activation server is unavailable.

I'm trying to do this over the air.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for any advice, Keith

Re: looking for input on any of the amazon devices

2017-08-07 Thread Wayne Merritt
I think with the music, if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, you get
a sampling of 2 million songs. Though there is variety in this
sampling, after a while, the songs seem to repeat themselves in the
different playlists. There is an unlimited music subscription program
just for Echo owners called something like Amazon Music Unlimited,
which costs $3.99 monthly. That is the cheapest monthly music
streaming price I've ever heard of. It lets you create playlists and
save songs offline, but since I already have a family subscription to
Apple Music, there does not seem to be an incentive to getting the
unlimited music on the Echo. Still, I can see how it could be used if
you don't have Apple Music, or want to have access to unlimited music
all of the time. There is a way to setup instant ordering with the
Echo, but I've chosen not to do that, as a safe guard for accidentally
ordering something that I didn't want. Or, to prevent Alexa from
triggering on those magic words spoken from other media. I have the
Echo Dot and it is extremely easy to use to set timers, play games,
check the next game of your favorite sports team, and much more.
What's fun to do is asking Alexa to play the top songs from a certain
year.

RE: New AirPods -

2017-08-07 Thread blindfaith38
I just ordered my Airpods from BestBuy on Friday and I have them already. They
were delivered earlier today. When I decided that I was going to finally take
the plunge and buy them I first went to the Apple Store app on my iPhone but
once I saw that it would take 6 weeks for shipment I decided to look elsewhere
and I was thrilled to find that the BestBuy website had them and that it would
only take 2 days for me to get them.

By the way. Even though these Airpods are very pricey I am very happy with my
purchase. They sound and feel awesome!

Re: Keyboards for iPhone.

2017-08-07 Thread Denny Schwab
Hello again,

On my last email, regarding the spacebar issue for my new Logitech
K480 keyboard... I have been playing with it a bit,a nd it does not
seem to be a malfunction of the keyboard. If I hit the keyboard's
spacebar directly in the center it types a space every time. If you
hit towards either end it does not activate the spacebar.

Please let me know if others are having this issue. I tend to type
really quickly, so having to listen to hear if the spacebar activated
or not is a pretty big issue for me. I would love to hear what others
are doing about this.

Re: What Color Identification Apps Are There for IOS10?

2017-08-07 Thread Richard Turner

TapTapSee does as good a job as any of them.
Plus, it tries to say what the pattern is.
Another one to look at I think is called inspector. But, color identification
with the iPhone camera is a good guess at best since it depends a lot on
lighting and won't likely be as good as a stand-alone device for color
identification like the Rainbow II.

Re: Emailing photos from my camera roll

2017-08-07 Thread Richard Turner

Or, get into the body of an email, either a new one or a reply/forward, turn
the rotor to edit, flick up or down until you get to insert photo or video,
double tap and you are in your photos where you can choose the one to attach.
Repeat for as many as you want to try and send at one time.

Subject: Emailing photos from my camera roll

I have several photos in my camera roll which I need to email. If I have a
choice, I would rather dump them into my Dropbox and then email with my
windows 10 computer. If this is possible, please tell me how to do it as I
have done almost nothing with photos in the past. I did make sure that any
pictures I do not wish to send have been deleted.

If I must attach the photos to an email message rather than dumping them into
Dropbox, please tell me step by step how to do so. I have sent emails from my
iPhone 6 running IOS 10.3.3; just didn't have to mess with photos. And if I
didn't ask previously, which is easier, sending directly from the iPhone, or
dumping initially into Dropbox.

Thanks.

Hi, Everyone.
I was using the SayColor app with my iPodTouch and IOS9. I'm

find that SayColor doesn't work with this new-to-me iOS. What are

Re: How do you cloase all the pages in Safari

2017-08-07 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi,
I have an iPhone 6, so, no 3D Touch. however, and I just tried this, if you get
the focus on the page tab and double tap and hold, The same options, including
one to close all and then it gives the number of open pages.

I bet there's loads of functionality I never knew existed because I never
thought to find it!
