Re: looking for recommendations about single Headset

2017-11-24 Thread Marie
I have a couple of questions about this headset. Will it pair with two
devices at the same time? Next are they the type which go over the top of
the head or in the back

Thanks

How much do you want to spend? If price is no object, then get a pair
of Beats Solo3 headphones for $300. I got a pair of these and love
them. They pair automatically with your iPhone when the headphones
are turned on. When they pair and unpair, a cool sound is played in
the headphones. The headphones have a battery life of 40 hours and a
Bluetooth range of 150 feet, thanks to a special microprocessor Apple
developed for Beats headphones. The only issue is mid-range sounds
are de-emphasized. But this is true for all Beats headphones. However
they generally sound great and offer an immersive experience. They
are not specifically noise cancelling but I wear them on the Chicago
subway system and can hear my music over the noise of passing trains
and the noise inside the car as it moves through the concrete tunnel.
They allow me to enjoy my own music while street performers have
played electric guitars or pounded on drum sets on the subway
platform. I normally don’t spend this much on headphones. I attended
the opening of a new AT experience location, which AT now calls
its stores, and won a $500 AT Gift card, which could only be spent
on hardware. At AT, experiencing an unboxing with an employee is
almost as good as it is at Apple. Like at Apple stores, the new AT
locations have high topped tables where people can stand or hang out
on stools with plastic backs. My AT sales representative, Adam,
removed each of the items in the box and placed it in my hand to feel.
He also showed me the buttons on the side of the headphones to control
the playing of music and the volume. Adam also configured my iPhone
to pair with the headphones. Purchases are made through iPads
employees carry around with them and not at a cash register by the
door.

After an unboxing, visitors can move to couches scattered around to
experience their hardware. For me, I configured the equalizer in
Spotify to maximize the rich audio from the headphones. Part of the
AT retail experience now includes free Wi-Fi, which can be used to
listen to headphones or evaluate open air speakers also sold at AT

If you want good quality, but inexpensive headphones, I strongly
suggest heading over to Ben’s Bargains and checking out the headphone
section. I have bought headphones there at a 90 percent discount to
the retail price. These are great deals throughout the year.

Hello all,

thought that maybe is time to replace it.

Which single headset that goes around the ear do you recommend?

Thanks for all,

you have to be to the instant pot in order for the pot to be able to be

RE: Insta Pot

2017-11-24 Thread Cristóbal
Every single model today seems to have been on sale, but of course for the
bluetooth one. The wife and I were out and about running erronds today and came
across the 8 quart model for something crazy like $85.

I got mine for $80, but that was with some price matching and point redemption.

If you can score a discounted Amazon, BestBuy, Target, etc gitf card or maybe
redeem some points whatever rewards program you may belong to for the same,
then this could be a way to off-set some of the cost.

I think the cheapest I’ve ever come across it was at $125 or so. That was when
I jumped on it and used some BestBuy points to bring it down further.

Our luck, the bluetooth version is the most expensive one.

RE: Anyone use Libby to access your public library books

2017-11-24 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Marie,

I, too, installed Libby and read the screen reader warning notice.

Despite that, I endeavored to use the app with VoiceOver. Even with enough
vision to locate the buttons, I found the app much, much, much more difficult
to navigate than Over Drive.

At this point, all we can do is encourage the developers to make Libby more
VoiceOver accessible, by posting such a request in an App Store review.

The very first thing I saw was a warning that the Overdrive app is much
friendlier to users of screen readers so I will continue to practice with it
and forget Libby for now.

It’s a pressure cooker which can also be used as a rice cooker, slow cooker and
other things. The “smart” version has bluetooth and all the controls can be set
and adjusted via an app on your iPhone.

Yes, the app is totally accessible and we use it a lot. You can even get
recipes and tips on how to use it. There are a lot of ideas on how to use them
on you tube. But yes, the app is easy to use and very accessible.

No deals on bluetooth enabled InstantPot in Canada

2017-11-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

Well, a number of the InstantPot cookers are on pretty good sales on Amazon and
also at BestBuy and some other retailers, but I haven't found a single deal on
the smart/bluetooth version.
Are there any in the US or did InstantPot simply decide to put the cheaper ones
on sale so they reach their anticipated sales of 500,000 units? Well, I hope
they get to 499,999 and miss their goal because I'm not buying one at the
regular price today, not much point since I can buy it for that any day.

Regards,
Sieghard

Thanks for writing back so quickly :-) it's working: I went into settings and

 Hi Jewel,

Before you can get the back, forward buttons, you'll have to clear the ok
button located around the middle of the screen, along with the theme of
 the
ladder, so where before it would show you a separate screen with the
 ladder
theme and the ok button, it shows you it on the same screen, when you
 double
tap the ok button, you'll get the back and forward buttons at the bottom
 of
 the screen.

Subject: looking for recommendations about single Headset

  Hello all,

Happy thanksgivings for all who celebrated this holiday Yesterday.

I am looking for recommendations about a Bluetooth single headset that goes
hugged around the ear, not in the ear or over the ear. I have a Plantronic
Legend but I have been using this device since I had my iPhone 4, and I thought
that maybe is time to replace it.

Which single headset that goes around the ear do you recommend?

  Thanks for all,

Re: Google hangout app

2017-11-24 Thread Kelly Pierce
I’m not sure because I have not tried it. I have always had an iPhone
with a Sim. Google Hangouts uses your Google Voice number not your
sim number. You will need a Wi-Fi data connection without a SIM. If
you don’t have a SIM card, install Google Hangouts and give it a try.
Let us know what happens. Google Hangouts is intended to compete with
Skype, Messenger and Facetime so I doubt Google will put in
restrictions the others do not have. As I said, I used to use it a
lot when I had a cell phone plan that gave me only 100 minutes a
month. The only time I use it now is to call Canada because people in
the US can call Canada free with Google Hangouts. My cell phone
provider offers free calls to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Talk to you later.

A Question About Forwarding Text Messages with Dates

2017-11-24 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Earlier today, I received a text message, not an iMessage, but a text
message, containing a date. Try as I may, I could not discover how to
forward this message, with VoiceOver running. All I could accomplish was to
initiate a dialog box that gave me options for the date, for example,
copying the date, adding the date to my calendar, etc.

The only way I was able to, finally, forward the text message was to disable
VoiceOver and perform a long press of the display. Once the appropriate
dialog box appeared, I re-enabled VoiceOver and continued on from there.

Question, is this a bug? Or is there a way to forward a text message
containing a date without inadvertently activating options for the date
event, itself.

Thank you,

Mark

I use Google Hangouts and have had no issues with VoiceOver with it. I
can call a contact, enter a number on the keypad, and receive calls

calling on my iPhone and prefer to call using the regular phone app.
Google Hangouts is good for making high quality VOIP calls, but the
people I call prefer Facetime, Skype, or Facebook Messenger. It could
be an excellent tool for cheaply calling into the United States
though.

Re: Net neutrality repeal: What it means for you - CNET

2017-11-24 Thread Kelly Pierce
The controversy is when companies put restrictions on bandwidth
intensive applications such as Bit Torrent or video streaming. Then
file sharers are shamed about intellectual property use and video
streamers are ridiculed as porno crazed weirdos. I have nearly
exceeded my two gig data allotment just by listening to high quality
audio from Spotify on my commute home.

Re: looking for recommendations about single Headset

2017-11-24 Thread Kelly Pierce

Yes, it does come with a lid. You can buy extra parts including a glass lid

It is 100% accessible. The app is at least. There are various models, but
the one if you’re blind that you want to get is the bluetooth model.

My wife’s getting to love it. More than anything, it takes the guess work
and fear out of working with a pressure cooker.

I’ve made pretty standard stuff with it. Soft boiled eggs, oatmeal, rice,
yogurt, etc. She’s the chef in the family, so she’s made more stuff with it.
Soups, quark and regular cheese cake, pork and beef roast, rice pudding. In
fact, she’s making a cherry cheese cake in the instant pot right now and
will be making a beef roast for Thanks Giving dinner a bit later.

  In short, it’s the bomb.

We’re thinking of getting my mother-in-law in Germany one for Christmas
this year too.

If only there were other smart appliances such as this that were made
fully accessible with an app.

I know there are more and more appliances with voice recognition like
washers/dryers, ranges and so on, but always having to speak out commands
can seem a bit tedious.

looking for recommendations about single Headset

2017-11-24 Thread pablocmd2014
Hello all,

Happy thanksgivings for all who celebrated this holiday Yesterday.

I am looking for recommendations about a Bluetooth single headset that goes
hugged around the ear, not in the ear or over the ear. I have a Plantronic
Legend but I have been using this device since I had my iPhone 4, and I
thought that maybe is time to replace it.

Which single headset that goes around the ear do you recommend?

Thanks for all,
