Try and I know this sounds stupid,

 See how that goes.

Subject: iPhone continuously crashing after update. Please help!

hey everyone, I was hoping someone here could offer suggestions on what I can
do before I throw my phone across the room. When I was told that I received a
software update I chose yesterday that I would have it installed between the
hours of 1 AM and 5 AM. Usually, every time it wants to install it I’m in the
middle of doing something so I have to keep putting it off.
Well I assume it installed overnight however, ever since I got up this morning,
it crashes constantly! And I don’t mean when I have a specific app or anything.
Sometimes, my phone is locked and it crashes and I know it does because it’s a
screen curtain on and I have to type in my password to unlock. I’m not
exaggerating when I say it’s been doing it 40 or 50 times today alone. We’ll
see how long I can even dictate this message before it crashes on me. End it
already crashed once during this message. I’m at a loss as to what to do. I
looked online and saw a suggestion where are you can do I guess it’s called
like a soft reset. They said if you have the iPhone 8+, which I do, you tap the
app volume button then the down volume button then you hold in the power button
until you see the apple symbol. Well, can’t see the apple symbol but I know
that I did restart it but it did not fix it. Does anyone know how I can undo
the update that I installed last night? I’m thinking maybe it was corrupted
somehow. If not that does anyone have any suggestions of what else I can try? I
will do a complete reset if I have to but I’m definitely trying to avoid that
if I can. it is totally possible that it is not related to the update only
because my phone has dropped a few times and he’s a little quirky in other
instances but I suspect it has something to do with the update since it worked
fine until this morning.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do I greatly appreciate it and you
would save my sanity.

Some folks have some luck with retraining the FaceID wearing mask. But for the
most part, the last update simply "fails faster" ... that is, prompts for the
passcode faster.which IS helpful; but yes it's the same number and kind of
steps we've had since this mess started.

Hi all

Has anyone got any advice for using Microsoft Teams with VO? I only know one

I just downloaded the app and it’s directing me to use Skype instead.

I wouldn’t bother with it, but, ironically, it’s for a meeting of the Digital

Hello Everyone,

Because this is a public forum, I will not speak as to the specifics but I
wanted you all to know that I recently moved to a new residence and that I used
Zillow for iOS, exclusively, to accomplish this endeavor.

Actually, I tried several other home finding apps and websites but always found
myself returning to Zillow, primarily, because of its VoiceOver accessability,
its integration with Apple Maps, and the fact that I could take notes on the
various properties, from within the app, itself.

So, if, like me, you find yourself on the move, give Zillow for iOS a try.

Mark

Question About Gifting from the iStores

2020-06-19 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
I know that you can use touch ID to purchase music to be stored on yur
device(s), but is it not available for when you purchase something to
be gifted? I didn't see it as an option, so was wondering if I'm
missing something.

Thanks,
Dani

Braille Input Mostly Broken in iTunes Store App

2020-06-19 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
Using an iPhone 8 with 13.5.1.

I just got done having a frustrating experience trying to purchase a
gift through the iTunes store. There's a Gift button as the last
choice in the Share option when you find the thing you want to
preview. I can use either a Braille display or BSI to input the
recipient into the To field, but everything goes downhill from there.
When I try to input Braille either with the display or BSI in the From
and Message fields, it doesn't let me. I can input the capital sign,
but can't input any letters or numbers. I'm horrible at the onscreen
print keyboard, so it added to the frustration.
Where do I go to report this problem? Is anyone else experiencing it?

Thanks,
Dani

Mark is on the Move

2020-06-19 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Because this is a public forum, I will not speak as to the specifics but I
wanted you all to know that I recently moved to a new residence and that I
used Zillow for iOS, exclusively, to accomplish this endeavor.

Actually, I tried several other home finding apps and websites but always
found myself returning to Zillow, primarily, because of its VoiceOver
accessability, its integration with Apple Maps, and the fact that I could
take notes on the various properties, from within the app, itself.

So, if, like me, you find yourself on the move, give Zillow for iOS a try.

Mark

Question on making the radio play.

2020-06-19 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi All,

I have a friend that has a 10 r iPhone. He has just a data and talk plan and
has no wifi at his home. I can say hey Siri play WNAX and it will play that
radio station. When he tried to do that on his iPhone a message comes up to
turn on data or wifi in settings. We have gone into his IPhone and data is
turn on and wifi is turned off. So why does this message keep coming up and
why does his iPhone not play any radio station when he asked Siri to play
it. Like I said every time he asked Siri to play a radio station it brings
up this message of turn on data or wifi. I know data is on because we check
and he also can receive text message and phone calls with no issues. Any
ideas?

Mr. Ed

Re: Face ID and face coverings.

2020-06-19 Thread Keith Bierman
Some folks have some luck with retraining the FaceID wearing mask. But for
the most part, the last update simply "fails faster" ... that is, prompts
for the passcode faster.which IS helpful; but yes it's the same number
and kind of steps we've had since this mess started.

Re: Face ID and face coverings.

2020-06-19 Thread Julian
Hi Malcolm,

Unfortunately, you're going to have to rely on entering your passcode to unlock
your phone when wearing a face mask. I'm not sure what they think they made
easier with this latest update. I still have to go through the same amount of
steps when unlocking my phone and wearing a face mask.

Face ID and face coverings.

2020-06-19 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
I read somewhere that the latest IOS is supposed to work with face coverings.

I am using an iPhone XR and next month I will have to go into hospital to have
a defective left kidney removed.

Here in the UK you have to wear face coverings in hospitals. Assuming this is
still the case when I am admitted, has anyone any experience as to how Face ID
works in this situation or am I going to be completely reliant on my passcode?

Thanks.

Re: passcode question

2020-06-19 Thread Vicki W.
Hi,

Just in case anyone ever needs to use the regular Apple support, He called
yesterday, and after 20 tries to set up his ID and over 90 minutes on the
phone, Apple support fixed the problem. They were very patient. He ended up
having to set up his ID on the computer and then adding it to the phone. They
never did figure out why he had the problem, but they fixed the issue.

First, I think you meant 4 minutes, not 4 hours.
If you have a phone with a home button, setup touch ID, and it will
primarily ask for the passcode after you reboot it, but if you just lock it and
come back later, the finger print will unlock it.
If you have a phone with no home button, setup Face ID.
Same thing, if you don't reboot the phone, you should be able to unlock it
with the face ID.

Hi all

Has anyone got any advice for using Microsoft Teams with VO? I only know one
other VO user who has experience of this and they couldn’t get it to work at
all.

I just downloaded the app and it’s directing me to use Skype instead.

I wouldn’t bother with it, but, ironically, it’s for a meeting of the Digital

I have not used Consumer Cellular. But I have been very pleased with service
through Visible.com. I believe they are a wholly-owned company by Verizon and
use the Verizon cell network and sell under-used band width. There are two cons
to consider and many pros.

The cons:
First, support is only available through 24 hour chat on their website or
through a smart phone app. No email, no phone number.
Second, if service gets congested in your area then your data will be slowed in
preference to direct Verizon customers. I have noticed this, especially during
these stay at home months, when in a rural area I frequent. But, service in
town is very good.

The pros:
* Their plan provides unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited data,
along with hot spot service with no caps, all for one monthly price of $40 or
as low as $25. I particularly needed hot spot capability so this feature was a
big draw; I have not been disappointed.
* That $40 monthly cost will be less if you join a Party Pay group. A Party Pay
group can have 2 members for a $5 discount per person each month; 3 members for
$10 discount monthly and 4 members for $15 discount monthly, or only $25. No
additional fees. There is no catch to joining a Party Pay group. No one shares
a bill or any other connection except for getting the group discount. I easily
found an open Party Pay group on Reddit and joined within a few minutes.
* After two months of paying for service they send a virtual MasterCard worth
$100.

If you can handle the two minor drawbacks then I think It is a good service
option.

Jeff
