IPhone se 2020 and volume

2020-11-23 Thread 'Kimberly Samco' via VIPhone
Hi,

Has anyone else notice the volume spontaneously reducing to 0 on the new SE? I
had this happen twice today. It isn’t a huge deal now that I know to check the
volume. The first time it happened I thought the phone crashed. I am curious
if anyone else is noticing this though.

Thanks,

Kim

They seem as though they will last for many years. Maybe it is possible to send
them back when they need a new one.

I was so curious about these headphones that I called Anchor.

The battery is not user replaceable.

That is a deal breaker for me.

I just looked the Anchor headphones up on Amazon and they look impressive.
They are around $40 to $45 depending on color.

I’ll paste the specifications after the link but I have a question.

Is the battery user replaceable?

All it says is that it is a lithium polymer battery included.

Anker Soundcore Life Q10 at DuckDuckGo

Specifications:

Input: DC 5V = 0.65A

Recharge Time: 2H

Playtime: 60H

Impedance: 16Ω

Driver (Full Range): 2 × 40 mm

Frequency Response: 16 Hz - 40 kHz

Range: 15 m / 49.21 ft

PS. The high frequency is almost double human hearing which means the highs
should sound amazingly clear. I had some Infinity Studio Monitor speakers
whose high range was 32 KH and they were amazing!

I also have one and while I wish the battery life was just a bit better and the
on/off slider switch wasn't so cheap, I really like it for wireless use with
the USB dongle and my laptop.

I don't like big over-the-ear type headsets and no matter how good, any
Bluetooth headset (and keyboard) has a small lag and I find myself being just
too fast on the computer to put up with it.

This leaves the Bluetooth connection of the H800 free for my iPhone or Amazon
Echo Dot and the same goes for my keyboard except that it can be paired with up
to 3 devices so in addition to using it with the USB dongle for my laptop I can
use it for my iPhone and my Apple Tv.

RE: headset retraction

2020-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
I disagree Simon. If you want "good" Bluetooth headphones, the H800 will meet
the need.
If you want excellent Bluetooth headphones, then you would look at the Bose QC,
or several other brands with much higher price tags and specs, grin.

can answer incoming calls with them. If you look at how many people have bought
them it is around 5000 who have reviewed them. I think they work great and have

I just looked the Anchor headphones up on Amazon and they look impressive.
They are around $40 to $45 depending on color.

I’ll paste the specifications after the link but I have a question.

  Is the battery user replaceable?

All it says is that it is a lithium polymer battery included.

Anker Soundcore Life Q10 at DuckDuckGo

  Specifications:

  Input: DC 5V = 0.65A

  Recharge Time: 2H

  Playtime: 60H

  Impedance: 16Ω

  Driver (Full Range): 2 × 40 mm

  Frequency Response: 16 Hz - 40 kHz

  Range: 15 m / 49.21 ft

PS. The high frequency is almost double human hearing which means the highs
should sound amazingly clear. I had some Infinity Studio Monitor speakers
whose high range was 32 KH and they were amazing!

I have seen bigger ma batteries on Ebay and Amazon. Just search for battery for

If you like the H800 why not just buy a new one?

I also have one and while I wish the battery life was just a bit better and
the on/off slider switch wasn't so cheap, I really like it for wireless use
with the USB dongle and my laptop.

I don't like big over-the-ear type headsets and no matter how good, any
Bluetooth headset (and keyboard) has a small lag and I find myself being just
too fast on the computer to put up with it.

This leaves the Bluetooth connection of the H800 free for my iPhone or
Amazon Echo Dot and the same goes for my keyboard except that it can be paired
with up to 3 devices so in addition to using it with the USB dongle for my
laptop I can use it for my iPhone and my Apple Tv.

OK Ed, that does work.I must have been answering on the phone rather than the
headset.I did notice you cannot hang up with the same button, I had to use the
phone to hang up, but no big deal.

Hi Richard,
When I get a call in and I have my H800 on I can put the button on the

and I call comes in I can answer it on the iPhone then turn my headset on and
it will come to the headset. But if I have the headset on and a call comes in
and I do a two finger tap to answer the call then the sound comes through the
speaker on the iPhone.
Not sure about any setting to change it. I think there is one setting to
always make it go to the headset but I have not tried it.

Do you find that answering with an iPhone flips the sound to the speaker

It seems to me that is kind of common with anything but Apple Bluetooth
headsets or am I missing a setting?

Re: Face ID on iPhone 12 v 10s?

2020-11-23 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hello. I think what Adam is talking about and Richard is referring to
is the Face ID and Attention screen. This is found in Settings,
Accessibility, and look under the Physical and Motor heading. There
will be a Face ID and Attention button in this section. This screen
has the specific setting Richard referred to, as well as a couple of
other setting which may fit the bill. One called Attention Aware
Features. According to the description, the iPhone will check for
attention before dimming the display, expanding notifications when
locked, or lowering the volume of alerts. There is also a Haptics
section on this screen. This relates to but doesn't have anything to
do with attention.

Hope this helps,
Wayne Merritt

RE: Question About Logitech K780 Bluetooth Keyboard?

2020-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
I think it is the same layout as my Logitech K480, so the bottom row from left
to right is:
Control, Function, Options, command, Spacebar, Command, Options, left arrow,
down/up arrow, right arrow.
So the VO keys are the 1st and 3rd from the left, Control and Options.
Or, go into the VoiceOver settings, and add the capslock key as a modifier,
then you can just use the capslock key as your modifier.
To actually then use capslock, you have to double tap the capslock key.
HTH,

Richard

Thanks!

 Hello,

Has anyone managed to make sense of the Photos app in IOS14?

No matter what settings I apply I am unable to identify what photo is what.
It used to give the date the photo was taken so you had an idea what was
 what.

RE: headset retraction

2020-11-23 Thread Deb Cook Lewis
Oh, I too love this headset and appreciate that someone found it on Amazon.
I've searched routinely and won't pay 4120 for it. Best Buy also has them. My
first one died after 5 years, the dongle broke actually. So I bought one on
Best buy a couple months ago and just ordered a spare on Amazon.

I'm surprised you like this headset. I saw one on amazon for $69 and another
for $119. It got very bad reviews on amazon. I personally wouldn't purchase
it. Hope you enjoy it though.

I just looked the Anchor headphones up on Amazon and they look impressive.
They are around $40 to $45 depending on color.

I’ll paste the specifications after the link but I have a question.
Is the battery user replaceable?
All it says is that it is a lithium polymer battery included.
Anker Soundcore Life Q10 at
DuckDuckGo

Specifications:
Input: DC 5V = 0.65A
Recharge Time: 2H
Playtime: 60H
Impedance: 16Ω
Driver (Full Range): 2 × 40 mm
Frequency Response: 16 Hz - 40 kHz
Range: 15 m / 49.21 ft

PS. The high frequency is almost double human hearing which means the highs
should sound amazingly clear. I had some Infinity Studio Monitor speakers
whose high range was 32 KH and they were amazing!

Why not just use Siri to call the emergency contact?
If they have an iPhone, you could even say call so-and-so with facetime video….

I use Aira for this purpose. They have a family member whom I have set as my
emergency contact on my profile, so if I am ever in a situation like walking on
the ice or taking a ride that I feel is not the safest, I put them on the line.
Siri can also call Aira if you can’t get to your phone. Even the lowest plan,
for $20 a month, would be worth it if she is concerned.

RE: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
Have you checked your privacy settings for the Camera?
Go to Privacy, Location Services, and if it is on, double tap anyway and you
will be in the list of apps that have requested your location.
If the Camera app is set to never, I think that could be the cause.
I have mine set to while using.

If that doesn't help, then as Wayne said, time to call Apple Accessibility.

Hmm. It might be time to call Apple Accessibility: 877-204-3930. They will work
with you to find the answer. They can even connect to your phone remotely and
see what you are experiencing. They are open 24/7, so you've got nothing to

Good luck,

Re: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Debby and Wayne,

Thanks for your help with the Photos app.

Still no luck here with my iPhone XR.

If I turn Describe Images off in the Rotor I get the word image and no more
information.

If Describe Images is on I get the word image followed by a description of the
photo in focus as you would expect.

If I swipe through the photo list I get things like Messages Notes Contacts
spoken as if I was on page 1 of my device.

Nothing I do makes the Photos app usable.

I have even put the iPhone in Recovery Mode and downloaded a fresh copy of
IOS14 but still no luck.

Well, how about putting the nonemergency number in her contacts and telling
Siri to call that number. The Apple Watch has fall detecttion, but it will call
911 along with any contacts you enter in your emergency contact info.

Do you find that answering with an iPhone flips the sound to the speaker rather

It seems to me that is kind of common with anything but Apple Bluetooth

If you’re talking about adding someone who texted you to your contacts then
double tap the number at the top of the screen, double tap the info button and
then double tap the info button again. You should now see the options to add as
a new contact or add to an existing contact.

Re: wireless/bluetooth headset

2020-11-23 Thread Jasmine Kotsay
Hi,
I have found the Anker Soundcore Life Q10 headset to be wonderful! It has
both Bluetooth and wire capabilities. I use it for both my iPhone and my Dell
laptop. They are inexpensive, and they have around 60 hours of playtime.

Re: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Wayne Merritt
Malcolm,
Try using the rotor actions when on a photo in Photos. I think you
will find some of the same information that was spoken before. I don't
recall if it is rotor actions or the new "more content" item, but one
of those will speak more info when swiping up or down through. Good
luck.

RE: headset retraction

2020-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Ed,
Do you find that answering with an iPhone flips the sound to the speaker rather
than the headphones?
It seems to me that is kind of common with anything but Apple Bluetooth
headsets or am I missing a setting?

can answer incoming calls with them. If you look at how many people have bought
them it is around 5000 who have reviewed them. I think they work great and have
great range with no lag. You can use it on your computer and also on your

I just did a search on Amazon and they have the Logitech H800 for 69.99. Here
is the link.

Amazon.com: Logitech H800 Bluetooth Wireless Headset with Mic for PC, Tablets

If you like the H800 why not just buy a new one?

RE: wireless/bluetooth headset

2020-11-23 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Sieghard,

You can get bigger batteries for the H800. I put a bigger ma battery in and my
H800 last for eight to ten hours. I think you can get a 400 ma battery or
higher and it will fit right in the same place that the original battery fits.
I have seen bigger ma batteries on Ebay and Amazon. Just search for battery for
Logitech H800.

RE: I O S 14.2 and Night Sky

2020-11-23 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Sieghard,

Yes, I hear you. I have been reading some of the rumors about the 13 iPhone. My
wife has an iPhone 11. I applied to get the iPhone from a deaf/blind program so
there is no cost to me. Like you said I would rather have the features you are
talking about that might be coming on the next gen models. So we will have to
see. If I do get one it would be the iPhone 12 is my guess at this time.

Sorry, Ed, I'm not worried, the border is still closed and in any case I'm like
100 years younger than you so I can take whatever you can dish out 

If you are getting an iPhone 12 I'm truly sorry for you, waste of money, stick
it out for another year or get something cheaper, you'll regret getting the 12
next year.

OK, joking aside, I'm sure the iPhone 12 is a nice enough phone, but you are
paying a higher price for several features which for most people make no
difference, e.g. 5G, maybe a slightly better camera than you would get on an
iPhone 11 which again for a blind person makes no difference etc. And if you
get a 12 Pro or Pro Max you are rreally throwing away money; many rumour
indicate there is a good chance next year's iPhone will have both Face Id and
Touch Id, better 5G support and much more. In my opinion the iPhone 12 is a bit
like the iPhone X, something they had to release but in retrospect an
in-between sort of phone. You can probably get a much better deal in the next
week or so on an iPhone 11, it is what I recently upgraded to from my iPhone 8
and it's amazing simply because the battery is fantastic. On my 2-year old
iPhone 8 I usually got the 20% low battery warming at around 5 or 6 PM after
having had it charged to 100% when I left for work between 8 and 9
AM, my new iPhone 11 with similar usage patterns is usually at around 60 to 70%
at that same time of the day. Then of course it's a bit snappier and it
supports all the latest features like screen recognition and so on.

It is off in settings already, but that swiping up when it is in the rotor does

using the library tab in the app. I looked at the photos app in settings, and I
didn't see anything that would seem to make a difference. I am using an iPhone
SE 2020.

Good Luck! Take care and be safe!

Hello,

Has anyone managed to make sense of the Photos app in IOS14?

No matter what settings I apply I am unable to identify what photo is what. It
used to give the date the photo was taken so you had an idea what was what.

Re: asking again about moving files into Voice Dream Reader via Itunes

2020-11-23 Thread Russ Kiehne
Try this:

You can transfer a collection of mp3 files in the zip format from your
computer to voice dream reader
the Mobile app using iTunes 12.7 and I think it's a bit easier than under
earlier versions of iTunes.

Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone to your computer and place focus on your
iPhone and press enter.
Navigate to the Summary tab and press the F key to move to file sharing.
Press your F6 key and you'll jump to the file sharing portion of the screen
where the apps supporting it are listed below.
Tab until focus is on your list of apps and down arrow to
the voice dream reader app.
Tab until the Add File has focus and press enter to navigate to the folder
containing your BARD zip file.
After you finish this process, the zip should be in within your voice dream
reader app.

Ok, I probably asked and received answers before about this but just can't
remember what was said.

I have a number of MP3 files I want to listen to via VDR. I can put them in
OneDrive and then move them into VDR but this takes a lot of data movement over
the internet. I'd like to avoid so much internet data traffic if I can.

Is there a way to move data such as files from a USB drive through Itunes to my
SE 2020 and then into VDR? I haven't found a way to get Itunes to see the USB
drive so that is my first problem but then I don't know how to get Itunes to
see VDR either.

any help would be very much appreciated.

I'm surprised you like this headset. I saw one on amazon for $69 and
another for $119. It got very bad reviews on amazon. I personally
wouldn't purchase it. Hope you enjoy it though.
