  1. Get to the home screen.
  2. Get to the App switcher. I'm going to state that I believe this is a
single finger swipe up and hold starting at the bottom of the screen and
releasing when the first sound is heard. Can someone confirm that this takes
you to the App switcher? I believe continuing that single finger drag till the

Thanks in advance for your help. Also, if anyone can direct me to a good site

RE: Need a couple of gestures for iPhone 12 Pro for a friend

2020-12-02 Thread Alan Lemly
Thanks, Richard. I guess sliding from the top down must take you to the control
center. Or maybe it's the same as with home button phones in that you place
focus on the status bar and do a three finger swipe up. The only absolute is
that I'm not going to be able to remember any of this until I get a no home
button phone.

RE: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
The fact that some people are seeing this and others aren't doesn't make it any
more likely that it's the operating system rather than the app itself. The fact
that it's hit and miss like this is even more reason to get as much information
into the hands of Apple and Hulu. Assuming they're serious about getting to the
route cause, they have a lot more resources to look for commonalities between
the people that are seeing this issue then the people on this list do. That's
not to say people shouldn't keep looking for what these people have in common,
but they shouldn't be doing this without also reporting this to Hulu and Apple.

Hi Holly,

In playing around making phone calls this afternoon to numbers that I knew
wouldn't answer, I think that if I just make sure to unlock the screen
before making a call everything will be fine. Just an adjustment whether
it's phone change issue or an iOS update issue doesn't matter, it's still an
adjustment that needed to be made.

Yes, I found out the hard way about that key above the delete key on my
Logitech K-380! LOL LOL

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

I use blue tooth hearing aids with my SE 2020, and don’t experience the
problem you are having.

Although, when I am using my wireless apple magic keyboard, there is a key
above the delete key that hides the keypad from view. Of course, this would
not be applicable in your case either.

Good luck!

Re: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Chris,
I have an iPhone 7 Plus running the beta of 14.3, and an iPhone XR with 14.2
public release. It works the same or I should say it doesn’t work on both
phones. The new feature for text recognition doesn’t make any difference at
least not here. And the people in the WhatsApp group who say it works great for
them or not using that. So I don’t think that matters. It’s frustrating as all
get out.

Did you come across anyone with a 10R where it worked just fine with?

I would like to know what phones have a problem, and what ones work just fine.

Hello Mike,
After placing the call with Siri using the Bluetooth headset, there is
a call in progress button that should be at the top right of your
screen. Double tapping on that button always makes the KeyPad visible

Mike: Do you have the speaker enabled when you take the phone away from your
ear?  If so, make sure the phone is far enough away from your ear when you try
to activate the keypad. This happened to me once when I had the phone on the
desk, but my ear was too close to the phone and the keypad wouldn’t show. Just
a shot in the dark.

Re: KeyPad Not in Focus After Placing Phone Call

2020-12-02 Thread Mike B
It would come up just with touching the screen or by pressing just the Home
button but, only after opening the phone app and choosing the KeyPad tab.

It shouldn’t matter if the screen is locked or unlocked,

I make calls using siri and the phone is normally locked.

But if you touch the screen to wake it or press the home button,

The keypad comes up,

Note though that this is a similar sounding issue to what I had / have in
similar situations

So possibly it’s a IOS version issue.

Something I noticed was that this setting is for an unlocked screen. So, I
usually keep my screen locked when out and about. Would the fix then be to
unlock the screen before making a call via Siri to avoid this KeyPad issue?
Thanks mooy moocho.

Go to settings/Iphone and set the display to full screen and not banner.

Do you have the speaker enabled when you take the phone away from your ear?
If so, make sure the phone is far enough away from your ear when you try to
activate the keypad.

This happened to me once when I had the phone on the desk, but my ear was
too close to the phone and the keypad wouldn’t show.

Just a shot in the dark.

Re: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Chris,
I’m using Alex, but I also tried the Siri male voice with the same
unsatisfactory results. I don’t understand it. There are folks on the WhatsApp
group who have demonstrated how well the app works. So I can hear that it does.
But on my two phones, a 10 r and a 7+, crickets.

RE: Hulu again

2020-12-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'd suspect this is more of an issue with the Hulu app then it is with the
operating system. Maybe if those of you who use the Hulu app will report these
issues to Hulu then you'll see some improvements in the future updates to the
app.

I have the same issue apparently. I've not used this app in a while, but if
I flick right, I just get repeated options and detailsover and over. If I
drag my finger around the screen, I get some tv info, but it's not helpful.
I thought turning on screen recognition would change the behavior, but it
didn't. I have the latest phone and operating system.

For each title, there is 2 buttons, go to details button, and view options

RE: KeyPad Not in Focus After Placing Phone Call

2020-12-02 Thread Simon A Fogarty
It shouldn’t matter if the screen is locked or unlocked,

I make calls using siri and the phone is normally locked.

But if you touch the screen to wake it or press the home button,
The keypad comes up,

Note though that this is a similar sounding issue to what I had / have in
similar situations

So possibly it’s a IOS version issue.

Do you have the speaker enabled when you take the phone away from your ear? If
so, make sure the phone is far enough away from your ear when you try to
activate the keypad.

This happened to me once when I had the phone on the desk, but my ear was too

2020-12-02 Thread Shai
Hello Mike,
After placing the call with Siri using the Bluetooth headset, there is
a call in progress button that should be at the top right of your
screen. Double tapping on that button always makes the KeyPad visible
to me everytime.

RE: after shockz quality

2020-12-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Sorry, but two things I forgot to add. First, there isn’t much base to speak
off, at least not in the Titaniums. This doesn’t bother me at all, and in fact
I kind of prefer it, when I’m listening to a screen reader or something being
read or spoken. I get most of an 8 hour day from my Titaniums, probably closer
to 6 hours of continuous listening, which isn’t the best of my collection of
Bluetooth headphones, but it does blow away the Bose Frames or the AirPod Pros,
which are the Bluetooth headphones I have that overlap the most with the
Titaniums as far as my use cases are concerned.

I don’t really have much to add that hasn’t already been said. I replaced the
original AfterShokz Bluez with the Trekz Titaniums, so I’m now a few models
behind, but IMHO, these are great head phones for the right use case. The noise
bleed has gotten a lot better. With the Bluez, I’d never use them in a meeting,
but I don’t have that hesitation with the Titaniums. The sound quality has also
improved a lot, but I still wouldn’t use them when you want high fidelity, but
in those cases, I’m usually reaching for something with some active or passive
noise cancellation anyway. The volume has also improved, so I don’t have as
much buzzing on my temples as I did with the Bluez when I crank up the sound a
bit. As some else, probably Nimer, said, you do get some ear plugs that you can
use to give you some passive noise cancellation. As has already been mentioned,
this means you lose one of the big advantages of the bone conduction, but this
does make them a bit more versatile, since if you’re in a noisy restaurant, and
you need a few minutes of quiet so you can check in with Swarm, you can just
pop in the foam ear plugs. I also find them extremely comfortable, but just as
with sound quality, this is going to be subjective.

For me, the Titaniums are my go to head phones around the house when I’m
listening to my screen reader, a book from BARD or a podcast. I still want to
be able to hear what’s going on around me, like my wife talking to me. I’ll
also use them when I’m watching a movie or TV show on Netflix, Prime or Apple
TV+, and I still want to hear what’s going on around me, but in those cases,
I’ll also frequently grab the AirPod Pros, which have better sound quality and
I can toggle between noise cancellation and transparency.

Re: after shockz quality

2020-12-02 Thread Andy Baracco
I use them primarily in mobile situations where I want to hear my GPS app, but
also ambient sounds. One problem that they have always had is audio bleed,
this has improved over the years with successive models, but I remember riding
the bus and the person sitting next to me humming along with my music.

  Hi lists,

I’m taking a look at bone conduction headphones as an option to listen while
I’m out walking,

I’ve been looking at the after shockz treks air

And the new After shockz aeropex

But as I’m not able to check the quality of sound I thought I’d see what
people who have used these things, what they think of the sound quality,

I’m interested in things such as how much vibration is there against your
cheek,

Is the base high or low?

And do they have good volume or are they normally pretty quiet at a half
volume point?

And what type of battery life are people getting out of these devices?

Cheers for any information folks might have.

  Cheers.

Re: In accessibility of the Hulu app on the phone

2020-12-02 Thread Mary Otten
Nope. I can search in the Hulu app. That isn’t the problem. The problem is that
there does not seem to be an efficient way to find out what they actually have
an offer without a ridiculous laborious process. Big fat Hulu fail!
Oddly enough, they just had an update today which talks about Accessibility
improvements. That wasn’t one of them.

Subject: I cannot get my orbit writer to pair properly with my iPhone 6s and
I’m using iOS 14.2

Hi folks. I’m wondering if anybody else can help me with this I have the orbit
writer by orbit research. And I’m on able to get it repaired properly using the
SRP protocol
And I’ve tried everything from resetting my entire phone to restoring my phone
to upgrading the orbit writers firmware, to resetting the orbit writer and no
luck. It will not pair. It actually gets going to pair but then it disconnects.
And it still shows up in the phone as orbit Reader 20 but it doesn’t wanna
connect it keeps saying disconnected because it’s not paired properly. I don’t
know what to do. I’ve tried getting a hold of orbit research but they don’t
answer their phones and I’m getting really frustrated. Does anyone have any
idea on what I can do here I really enjoyed using this keyboard when it used to
work. It stopped working today all of a sudden and I don’t know why. Anyone’s
help would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: In accessibility of the Hulu app on the phone

2020-12-02 Thread Candy Lowe
You may want to try using the tv app. In other words, type the name of the
show that you wish to watch in the tv app. Basically, when it shows up in your
search results, it will bring you to hulu if that program is available on hulu.
Then, the next time you go to the tv app, if you have not finished the series,
it will say, continue watching, and it will name the program. I find this much
easier to use hulu this way. If you need any more help, let me know.

Re: Login to Mac mini with Braille display

2020-12-02 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
Well, if just got a blunt reply from Orbit Research:
“ Greetings from Orbit Research!

As of now Orbit reader, 20 Braille display will not be automatically connected
with Mac Book on the log-on screen when we turn on the Mac Computers.”
So, I will carry on logging in with my Apple magic keyboard and then transfer
to the Orbit Research 20!
Thanks
Harry
