RE: Iphone mini

2020-12-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The iPhone 12 Mini has Face Id as all iPhones have since the iphone X, XR, 11,
11Pro/Pro Max and all the 12/12 Pro phones.
Having said this, it really depends on what phone you have now, I really thing
anybody who has an iPhone XR and later is wasting their money upgrading, the
12-series phones will be remembered similarly to the iPhone 5C, 7 and iPhone X,
definitely updates, but not updates worthwhile unless you pay big bucks to be
on one of these programs where you can get the latest each year.
Yes, the 12 Mini is relatively small and it packs the latest chip, 5G and so
on, but considering that most likely next year's phones will have betrter 5G
modems, possible feature both Touch Id and Face Id and so on makes me want to
wait for sure.

Subject: Iphone mini

Hi all. I’m interested to hear from anyone who has purchased an Iphone mini. I
love the idea of a smaller phone. I’m interested to know about battery life and
generally want to learn more about the pros and cons. Someone mentioned that
you can’t lock or unlock the mini if you don’t have a passcode or face ID. Is
that true? In general, just putting out feelers. Not quite ready to take the
plunge but giving it serious consideration. Thanks in advance.
God bless!

Depending on the page, if you double tap it, you may hear adjustable.
If that works, flick up at that spot.
If not, you may find it lower down on the page where there is a combo box of
sorts, where it may say, 1 of 53, or whatever.
Touch there and start flicking up.
If you are in a state early in the alphabet it ain’t too bad; now if you are in

Just double tap that and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

I did try the double tap and flick up and down but, I don't recall what I
tried first. This hospital website was finicky and I could have been in too
much of a hurry so I wouldn't get kicked off the webpage like I already had
2 times earlier in the session.

Thanks much.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Depending on the page, if you double tap it, you may hear adjustable.

If that works, flick up at that spot.

If not, you may find it lower down on the page where there is a combo box of
sorts, where it may say, 1 of 53, or whatever.

Touch there and start flicking up.

If you are in a state early in the alphabet it ain’t too bad; now if you are
in Washington, have fun!

What else they forgot to mention is, when you are done finding what you

Just double tap that and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Performing OCR on Arabic text is challenging.superSense passed the test. As
expected, there were some recognition mistakes, but the text was easy to
understand. What impressed me the most was the quality of the english
handwriting recognition. I did not test the app on Arabic handwriting but may
do that once I meet a friend who knows how to write Arabic. It is definitely
superior to that of Seeing AI and Envision. I will do more testing in the next
few days, but I am happy with what I found so far.
I also agree with your suggestion. The future update should put the instant

I’ve spent the last hour or so running SuperSense through its various modes,

in the document mode, Pros: I like the way it prompts you with specific
messages, like move farther from the document; move an inch to the left, etc.
I like the music while processing, very nice.
The accuracy is very good.

Cons: like most OCR apps, it cannot handle columns. If it did, I would
possibly buy it.

Bar codes, Pros: Very fast.
Cons: it did not recognize a hardback book ISBN while Seeing AI’s product
channel did. Otherwise, I think pretty even.

Currency, Pros: very fast.
Cons: I was scanning a $10 bill and when I moved the camera sideways, a couple
times after saying $10, it said $50.
That would be too confusing to someone who did not know or have another money
identification app to double check with.
Explore Mode, Pros: pretty quick and generally accurate. I could see this
helping someone in a hotel room find things like light switches, thermostats,
etc.
Cons: none at this time.

Smart Scan, Pros: very fast and pretty accurate.
Cons: it does not seem any better than Seeing AI’s Short Text mode.

Quick Read, Pros: seems very fast. Also quite accurate.

No cons at this time.

Overall: I most certainly would never pay $100 for this app.
I’m doubtful I would even spend $50.

If I did not have other apps to get my scanning needs met, I would seriously
consider spending the $50, but I’m not in need of it right now with the other
apps I have.

I wish it would start each mode in the stopped position rather than immediately
begin trying to scan.

I will keep exploring uses for it and write if I have updates worth while to
add.

IN VoiceOver settings, it goes up by 10.
ON the rotor, it goes up by 5.
You can force it I guess with the long press in settings, but it is just easier
to have it on the rotor.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering, is it possible to change the speaking rate of the voiceover
voice, to increments of 5?

Right now, I have the Alex voice set to 60. But that's a bit too slow for me.

However, 70 is just a bit too fast. So I would like to set it at 65, if at all
possible. But I wasn't sure how to do this. I tried, but it only seems to move
in 10's.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you,

No idea,

But the quiet comfort headphones are absolutely fantastic.
You should check out your closest bose store and check to see if they have a

RE: Changing speaking rate of voiceover voice

2020-12-08 Thread Richard Turner
Simon,
IN VoiceOver settings, it goes up by 10.

Thank you,

Terri

RE: bose quiet comfort earbuds

2020-12-08 Thread Christopher Chaltain
And I saw the following posted on another mailing list. I don’t have these
myself, but this seems like a good review. BTW, this came from Warren on the
ANATAD list.

So, Anker is back at it again and this time with the Q30Life.

This is being sold for 80-bucks, but if you are like me and you want it to be a
little bit less, then you may just add it to your wish list on Amazon and wait
to get that notification letting you know that it’s now at a better price.

You can, however, read the review from an Android Central contributor below and
the amazon URL is at the end of the review, but if you are one of those that
don’t want to read the review, given what you know when it comes to Anker and
you simply want to buy it, then that URL is:

https://amzn.to/33PQM10

Now, here’s that review.

Quote:

Source: Ted Kritsonis / Android Central

Anker has done something that isn't easy, which is to branch out from making
portable charging products to making good headphones at affordable prices. The
Soundcore Life Q20 was something of a statement for the company, and its
successor, the Soundcore Life Q30, is hard evidence that it wasn't a fluke.

It's not just in what Anker chose to include, but also in the consistent
performance that makes the various parts fit together with admirable cohesion.

At a glance

Anker Soundcore Life Q30

Bottom line: Anker pulls off an impressive feat of making affordable headphones
that sound more expensive, while also prioritizing features that only serve to
make them even better. They do reach their limits in some respects, but not
necessarily in ways that will surprise you, especially when looking at the
value of what you're getting.

The Good

Superb audio quality

• Outstanding battery life

• Better build this time

• Great companion app

• ANC support

• Affordable price

The Bad

Limited touch controls

• Bulky design

• Unclear long-term durability

Anker Soundcore Life Q30 What I like

Anytime a sequel comes out for a pair of headphones, you count on the
manufacturer correcting past mistakes. That's certainly one way to put it for
the design. Anker went with a sturdier set of materials to craft this. It's
still plastic and soft vinyl, only that the tighter build makes these
headphones feel a little more premium than they otherwise would've been had
Anker stuck to the same exact design.

The rounded earcups have enough space to cover most pairs of ears, which pays
off in helping to passively isolate background noise as much as possible. The
thing is, these headphones are pretty big off the bat, so I would expect them
to be comfortable, which they are. Anker even equipped them with a slew of
onboard physical controls to simplify things.

There's a dedicated button on the left ear cup to toggle active noise
cancelation (ANC) and Transparency mode on, plus the power button to turn the
Soundcore Life Q30 on or off. It's also where the USB-C charging port is. The
right ear cup has play/pause, plus volume buttons. Double click those buttons
and you can skip a track (volume up) or repeat one (volume down). The right
side has an NFC chip for quicker pairing, and also features its own way to
toggle ANC/Transparency. Just cup the right side with your hand and the voice
prompt will tell you which mode it's in.

Setting these up isn't very hard. The NFC chip on the right ear cup makes
pairing even easier, though you could also go the standard route through your
phone's Bluetooth menu. I also downloaded Anker's Soundcore app, which offers
some useful features, starting with firmware updates. I got two of them over
the month that I tested these cans, but what I liked even more was the
equalizer and quick presets available.

As for comfort, I actually found these roomy and not all that tiring, despite
their heavier weight and heft. They are big headphones, so they won't be all
that appealing from any svelte aesthetic, but the passive isolation does make
up for that to a large degree.

Any pair of headphones under $100 are going to come with some caveats, but I
was stunned these sounded as rich as they did.

So does the sound quality. Any pair of wireless headphones under $100 are going
to come with some caveats along the way, and yet, I was stunned these sounded
as rich as they did. For one, they aren't tinny, nor are they ridiculously
skewed toward bass from the start. Yes, there is plenty of bass — and even
more, if you want that — but I didn't find it was at the expense of the rest of
the spectrum. Vocals and instruments still came through nicely.

At the same time, they're not going to pick up the distinct sounds and
signatures that make highs and mids so great on more expensive cans. The
Soundcore Life Q30 were clearly engineered for the bass-loving crowd, so
self-respecting audiophiles naturally won't come

I will keep exploring uses for it and write if I have updates worth while to

Hi all. I'm interested to hear from anyone who has purchased an Iphone mini.
I love the idea of a smaller phone. I'm interested to know about battery
life and generally want to learn more about the pros and cons. Someone
mentioned that you can't lock or unlock the mini if you don't have a
passcode or face ID. Is that true? In general, just putting out feelers. Not
quite ready to take the plunge but giving it serious consideration. Thanks
in advance.

God bless!

I would recommend the Raycon Work 85 noise canceling wireless earbuds. They
retail for $149, but they're running a holiday special with 15% off which
brings the price down to $127.
If you want something that is acceptable but a little cheaper, go for the
Raycon E25 Everyday which retails for $79 with the 15% discount bringing it
down to $67.

RE: Changing speaking rate of voiceover voice

2020-12-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That is definitely the best way, but if you don't want to add speaking rate to
the rotor, you can do it in settings, but you have to double tap and hold on
the volume slider and then drag left or right, you can then set it to 63 or 67
or whatever, but it's a very finnicky process, you need a steady hand and the
amount you have to drag your finger left or right is minute, this might be a
case where a stylus could be useful.

Yes, add Speech rate to the rotor if it isn't there.
Turn the rotor to speaking rate and flick up or down and it moves by 5.

Thank you,

Re: Supersense, initial impressions

2020-12-08 Thread Shane Lowe
Chris,
I'm sorry for the confusion, I did reach out to you yesterday but
something must have gotten lost on the way. I will be resending your
promo code after I send this message.

Richard, thanks very much for the honest and thorough review. We
currently have a system which can process columns, and are in the
implementation phase now. I will also reach out to our development
team about adding the ability to scan ISBN numbers; that's a really
good idea.

The other thing I should mention about our price is that it includes
all of the features we are currently developing. While the app is
relatively expensive when compared to Voice Dream and Seeing AI, our
goal is to perform a lot of innovative research to collaborate and
benefit the community as much as possible. Unfortunately, that can be
pretty costly, but in the long run, you'll have access to far more
than what is visible in the app today.

random bug in ios14.2? item choser

2020-12-08 Thread davycuppens
Hi folks

This is certainly not a severe bug but one I cannot reproduce it happens
when it happens 2 times a week or so. What happens then?

My iphone is in rest I am just doing nothing wit hit. Then, suddenly it
comes up and says: 8 items found: whatsapp. It always says it with the word
whatsapp. I've not done anything that could trigger or cause this behaviour.

Who can confirm this bug?

Davy

Ok, are VoiceOver keys second and third keys from the left-edge of the keyboard?

Thanks!

Hello,

The layout is like the British English keyboard. I don’t know how it behaves if
set to an American layout. I switch between the British and French layouts on
my Mac all the time.

Cheers,

Anne

Hello,

Yes, the French keyboard will work for English. The only difference is what’s
printed on the keys. Your iDevice will not know the difference.

Cheers,

Hi, list.

I saw a French Apple Magic Keyboard on Craig List.

Would I be able to use it for English typing exclusively if I purchase this
French Keyboard? Would the voiceOver keys be second and third from the left
edge in second row?

Thanks!
