Re: Experience with Bluetooth enabled web browsers?

2021-01-08 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Ben,
Well, I’m trying to connect with a Bluetooth device which is actually a vaping
device if you’re familiar with that. And what you can do is control a lot of
settings on the device if you get connected. I think something or other from
the website might be written in JavaScript. And I have no idea if that’s a
showstopper for voiceover. I don’t actually have the device, since I don’t
particularly want to buy it and less it will work excessively. That’s why I was
trying to find out as much as I could about the app and how it might work or
not. The seller of the device is naturally clueless about Accessibility.

Yeah it's been around for a while now and if you don't use a default voice then
it's more likely to happen.

Telegram messenger questions

2021-01-08 Thread Jasmine Kotsay
Hi,
I just recently started using telegram, and while I like how the voice message
audio quality sounds, there are other things I have questions about. My first
question is, why won’t this app let you delete conversations? Another question
is how to add friends by searching through your contacts. I cannot figure
either of these out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Apparently, it's a problem that Audible knows about. I just hope they

Handoff allows you to start something on one device, and hand it off to another
device to continue.
IN the context of the current discussion, if you have an apple watch and an
iPhone, if you answer the phone on the watch, you can then pick up your phone
and find the button in the top left that says something about handoff call, or
call in progress or something… I’ve only done this once so I don’t recall the
exact wording, but it made sense at the time. I double tapped on that button
and the iPhone picked up the call with the person on the other end having no
idea I changed devices.

I believe there is a whole range of apps that support handoff.

You could do a search on the web to find more or call Apple directly.

It does work with the phone.
But, I’ve only done it from the watch to the phone.
Folks that want to do multiple handoffs should call Apple if they cannot make
it happen on their own.

I believe handoff is meant to be able to flick between multiple devices / apps.
So you could go from your phone to your tablet to your watch to your computer
and back to the phone if you realy wanted to

But I don’t know that handoff is really the phone call side of things,

I always thought handoff was document related
I never really thought of it from the phone side of things.

I have absolutely no idea. I only said I have never done that. Perhaps you
could call Apple Accessibility, or just Apple main number and ask. I personally
do not imagine that is something I would do since using the watch for a phone

HTH,

Re: Problem with punctuation

2021-01-08 Thread Dave Clement
Hello,

Some folks have reported a similar problem. The solution I have read involves
the Voiceover "activities" feature.

1. Open the Voiceover settings
2. Open the "activities" option.
3. Double tap the "programming" item.
4. Find the "punctuation" setting and double tap.
5. Set this to "none".

This seems to have resolved the problem for some others. Good luck.

What is the blind audible listeners address to write about concerns and

What I have done, is when they call from some back number, I go to the phone
recents, and add that number to the contact.

Yes, you have to keep track of which number is the one you should call, but
eventually, you get the ringtone when they call.

Good luck,

Thank you Richard. Well, I may as well turn FaceTime off since the phone
numbers I have for my doctors are the front desk numbers and the doctors
never call from this number. Good thing I didn't have anything better to do

I did set separate ring tones in my contacts for what doctor numbers I have

Re: Accessible English-Italian Dictionary

2021-01-08 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Dulce,

There's one built into your ipHone. Go to Settings/General/Dictionaries, and
select the Italian/English dictionary. To look up a word, select it and choose
Look Up from the menu that appears. To select a word, put the insertion point
on the word, turn the rotor to Edit, and choose Select.

Best,
Anna

Re: Transferring data

2021-01-08 Thread Ann

Hi,

I had to first get my phone to update to IOS14, which is what the old
phone had. After that, I erased everything and re-started the setup
process, and it transferred most of everything important in about 4
minutes, even my contacts, folder structures, etc.

It's awesome!

Hi,

I didn't get to where I could turn off auto lock on the new phone. It went
straight through the set up process until it hit IOS Update.

Guess I'll find out soon if data transfers while it's auto locked. the old
phone screen has never auto locked, so maybe that means somethings going on. I
also have a good bit of data on the old phone so I know this may take a while.

RE: Ring Tone for Only FaceTime Calls

2021-01-08 Thread Richard Turner
Apparently, Apple isn't yet allowing us to distinguish between regular phone
calls and Facetime.
But, setting the specific sound for that contact should do it if they always
call from that number, or numbers within that contact.

I've had doctor's offices call from a back line and when I had calls not in my
contacts blocked, it would go to voicemail without my knowing it...

Hi All,

Running iOS 14.3 on an SE iPhone. I'm trying to set my Facetime ring tone for
only doctor phone calls but, when I do this in Notifications / FaceTime / Ring
Tones it changes my default ring tone.

Then when I reset my default ring tone it resets my FaceTime ring tones again!
I went into the apps folder and changed the ring tones for my doctors to the
ring tone I want for them but, is this going to work? Also, in Notifications /
FaceTime / Notification grouping I set this to, By app.

Am I going about this all wrong? If so, would someone please straighten me out
on how I can have a separate ring tone just for FaceTime calls? All help is
greatly appreciated. Thanks mooy moocho.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Problem with punctuation

2021-01-08 Thread Marcos Rodrigues
Good morning.

Since updatimg the last version of IOS, my voice over is reading all the
punctuation that appears everywhere even though I set it to none on my
settings.

Any idea why this is happening and how to solve it?

Regards.

Ring Tone for Only FaceTime Calls

2021-01-08 Thread Mike B
Hi All,

Running iOS 14.3 on an SE iPhone. I'm trying to set my Facetime ring tone
for only doctor phone calls but, when I do this in Notifications / FaceTime
/ Ring Tones it changes my default ring tone.

Then when I reset my default ring tone it resets my FaceTime ring tones
again! I went into the apps folder and changed the ring tones for my
doctors to the ring tone I want for them but, is this going to work? Also,
in Notifications / FaceTime / Notification grouping I set this to, By app.

Am I going about this all wrong? If so, would someone please straighten me
out on how I can have a separate ring tone just for FaceTime calls? All
help is greatly appreciated. Thanks mooy moocho.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Trouble with audible app

2021-01-08 Thread Ann

Hi,

Is anyone else having trouble signing in to the Audible app using IOS
14.3? I even reset my password, but it still won't log in.

I can sign in to Audible on any computer browser and even on my Fire
tablet, but not on the Audible app since i updated to IOS 14.3. There
seemed to be no problems signing in on IOS14.2.

Thanks,
~Ann

I have absolutely no idea. I only said I have never done that. Perhaps you
could call Apple Accessibility, or just Apple main number and ask. I personally
do not imagine that is something I would do since using the watch for a phone
call uses quite a lot of its battery.

Re: Experience with Bluetooth enabled web browsers?

2021-01-08 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi,

It would be useful to know what your trying to do. Any browser that
supports the web-BLE standard will be able to connect with BLE devices
but this on its own will mean very little from a user point of view -
all it means is that they have the capability to let developers write
software that runs within the browser to connect to BLE devices.

Cheers,
Ben.

Re: seeking recommendations for accessible in-home mesh network system

2021-01-08 Thread Brian Moore
Hi.  I too have a Eero mesh system and am pretty happy with it. The app
has issues when you start playing with advanced settings and want to do
things like look at your traffic reports, set up routing rules and add
and remove devices from profiles.  However, if you are happy with a
basic setup, the actual equipment works very well and my wifi is rock
solid and I never have to touch it. it just keeps working.

the system up without sighted assistance.
Here is a link on Amazon of the system I got.

Re: seeking recommendations for accessible in-home mesh network system

2021-01-08 Thread Vicki W.
Do you need Bluetooth running all of the time to keep the router working or
only when you want to access the settings for some reason?

I will echo this! I have been using Eero products for almost 2 years now,
and it is the most accessible system I have ever used. No scanning of codes,
just plug and play, give bluetooth permission, and you ready to go.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I've noted these down, and will bring them
up when I chat with the developers.
Malcolm, I can't remember if this document contains sensitive information. If
it does not, could you forward it to me privately?
