Hi Amy,

You should check out the Windows large print keyboards offered by Logickeyboard
at this website:

Michelle Malkin who is the Key Account Manager for the company was on Tek Talk

I have a client who is not a true touch typist and who needs a large print
keyboard.

Recommendations requested.

Thanks.

RE: Emails and Contacts Help Please!

2022-08-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I can’t find this setting either, either in Outlook settings or searching on
the web. In fact, I’ve found some plugins for Outlook that add this feature to
Outlook. I don’t use IMAP though for my Outlook apps and my Outlook.com
account, so maybe that has something to do with what you’re seeing. I know that
the only way I could get addresses from my address book in Outlook over to my
iPhone was to use GContactSync and have my Gmail account as a go between. Even
if email addresses are being saved automatically in Outlook, I’m not sure how
they would show up in the contacts list on the iPhone.

I just did some more searching, and I found out I can create an Outlook account
on my iPhone to sync emails, notes, calendars and contacts. This may simplify
my life since I won’t need to keep using Gmail as a go between. Maybe now that
I’m doing this, I’ll see what you’re talking about.

BTW, if you’re talking about addresses you’ve added to Outlook on your PC and
you just don’t want them showing up on your iPhone then you can just go into
Settings -> Email and select your Outlook account and just toggle contacts to
off.

I seem to recall this setting, but I can’t find it at the moment. This setting
though would just add contacts to your Outlook address book. This wouldn’t
explain why they would be showing up in the Contacts app on your iPhone. Which
group are they in on your iPhone? Did you ever set up any auto syncing between
Outlook and Gmail or iCloud?

There is a setting in Outlook that governs whether email addresses you write to
are automatically added to your contacts.

I don’t recall where that is since it has been years since I got it turned off.
Call Microsoft Accessibility 800-936-5900 and see if they can tell you.

Or do a web search for addresses automatically added to contacts or something
like that and you may find the setting to turn off.

Hi Everyone,
I just noticed on my XR iPhone running 15.6.1, in my contacts list on my phone,
it shows names and email addresses to people who I sent a message to from my
PC. Can someone please tell me how can I stop the emails I send to people from
my PC going into my contact list on my phone? I don’t want my contact list
filled up with all those email addresses. On my phone, I use Outlook iOS, on
my PC I use MS 365 imap on my phone as well as on my PC. I don’t really even
know when this all started as I just noticed it today when I was looking for a
certain contact on my phone, and seen several email addresses from my PC in
which I had sent to people in the contacts on my phone. I haven’t went through
my contacts on my phone in at least over a year.
I hope this makes sense.

Thank you all in advance.

Hi Richard,
That is exactly what I was thinking, there has to be a setting for this. I
will now search on my phone in Outlook to see if I can find something.

RE: Emails and Contacts Help Please!

2022-08-30 Thread janet gross
Hi,
I am seeing these email addresses on my phone in my contact list. I do not see
either of the addresses when I am filling out the to field. The email
addresses are all over the place in my contact list or maybe I should say
contact app. There are way to many of the addresses, and if I delete them, I
don't know if that will delete them from my PC.

Well, I personally don't see the issue with someone asking about an accessible
dating app for use with their phones here. Moreover, rules or not, someone was
vulnerable enough to come on here and admit to being lonely. It seems that the
least we can do, as human beings, is offer help or support. I should say that I
don't know who this person is, and I'm not sure I would come on here and admit
these feelings... if I was feeling that way, I wouldn't be that brave. I might,
however, consider the fact that the best way to find someone is likely going to
be through common activities, and probably offline. I would also hope that men
feeling things like this aren't out to objectify women, that they aren't out to
find someone just to alleviate loneliness, but I'm not them. And, of course,
any moderator of this list can do whatever they wish to about this thread.

RE: Moderator Note - Regarding accessible dating / hook-up apps

2022-08-30 Thread Dennis Long
Thank you Cara for allowing this topic to continue. I think it could prove
useful for some.

Subject: Moderator Note - Regarding accessible dating / hook-up apps

Hi All,

I just wanted to send a quick note regarding this current thread on accessible
dating / hook-up apps.

As long as the conversation does not simply go into a solicitation for dates
etc on this list and stays in the form of a discussion about which apps are
useable / accessible, then this conversation is absolutely fine for this group.

I’m sorry if this offends some here but not only would I agree that the
original poster showed quite a bit of bravery and vulnerability in asking this
question here, but the fact is that dating and connecting via apps / online is
a reality in the world today, and folks should feel welcome to ask about this
sort of thing here. There is nothing at all wrong with meeting / dating online
etc. -And, especially as blind / VI people, it’s important for us to be able to
learn about as many of these resources available to us.

if this sort of thing bothers some here, then please do feel free to delete
these postings at will.

No one will be banned for having appropriate conversation about resources that
they may need.

Hope this makes sense and please let me wish you all a wonderful day / evening!

Cheers!

Cara

RE: Embarrassing question

2022-08-30 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Chaim,

This is an excellent question and one that has come up in the past.

In terms of free dating solutions, Facebook does offer a dating feature that is
based, in theory, on your physical location. As far as I know, this feature is
only available on iPhone and does not yet work on iPad.

Plenty of Fish is another dating solution that is screen reader accessible and
offers a web browser interface as well as iPad and iPhone apps.

Keep in mind that any mainstream dating solution will be based on photos. So,
even if virtually every aspect of the dating app / site is screen accessible,
there will be a learning curve involved.

Apple Watch and hearing aids

Hi all,
thinking of getting an Apple Watch again. How do you connect both the watch and
the phone to the aids?
As I understand you can only connect one bluetooth device at a time to your

RE: Embarrassing question.

2022-08-30 Thread Star Gazer
No, he was only
asking about dating sites that may be accessible, a question that makes sense
given how people describe sites like Tinder as being picture based. They are,
but all anybody needs to do is ignore the pictures and read whatever data
people post about themselves, taking all of it with a grain of salt, or maybe
more politely, using the skills we all have and use each and every day to make
decisions about who we do and do not want to deal with and what those dealings
may look like.

rainbird st8-wifi irrigation timer app

2022-08-30 Thread Donald Raikes
Hello,
Recently I got a rainbird st8-wifi-2.0 irrigation timer. It has an app
which allows the user to monitor/program the 8 stations, but I am
struggling to figure out how or whether this app is at all accessible.

I can sort of see the 4 zzones that my landscaper programmed when the
timer was installed, but I can't figure out how to change the
programming or manually run a station.

Has anyone had any experience with this app (rainbird utilities) on
the app store?

Re: Moderator Note - Regarding accessible dating / hook-up apps

2022-08-30 Thread Michael Irons
Hi Carrie this is Mike. I am glad you posted on here I am basically in the same
position is the guy who asked the question. I am also wondering what dating
apps might be accessible. I think it is quite appropriate that the question was
asked. I am sort of wondering the same thing.

Moderator Note - Regarding accessible dating / hook-up apps

2022-08-30 Thread Cara Quinn

Cheers!

Cara

RE: Embarrassing question.

2022-08-30 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
A little compassion and consideration can go a long way. What’s wrong with
asking about VoiceOver accessible dating apps?

Seems like a perfectly legitimate topic for this list… Not a topic I’m
personally interested in or would have the faintest idea about as I’ve been
married for a while now, but I also don’t don’t play fantasy sports and
wouldn’t have the first clue about anything regarding apps to play fantasy
sports or gambling on the same.

The poster was pretty brave to put himself out there like that. What’s
embarrassing and horrible is this kneejerk response.

Just press the delete button and move on.

Lanyard for an iPhone 13 pro?

2022-08-30 Thread Donald Breda

Hello listers,

I purchased a lanyard from amazon which is supposed to fit most phones
iPhones included.

I have an iPhone 13 pro and this lanyard will not work for it.

I need a lanyard that leaves the rear cameras totally exposed.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Agreed why the embarrassment or the shaming ? Both of those feelings and

2022-08-30 Thread Kelly Pierce
Sieghard,

No, I do not wear skinny jeans. I am a powerlifter with big legs from
years of lifting heavy iron. I wear basic dress pants from the
military or tactical pants. these are roomy with extra pockets. The
pockets with these pants easily fit an iPhone, battery charger, and a
pocket speaker, if I decided to carry one. What does not fit is Beats
over the ear headphones. I attach the case to my belt with a carabiner
clip. This allows me to have all the elements for a digital lifestyle
while going hands free with no backpack or bag.

I agree with Nimer. The original poster asked nicely & would presumably be
using his IPhone for the dating web site. How is this any different than
asking for any other accessible web site. Good greif, wanting to ban someone
for asking this question is a ridiculous overreaction.

2022-08-30 Thread Kelly Pierce
Caroline,

The iPhone 13 mini has significantly more battery life than the iPhone
7 or 8 and more battery life than the 12 Mini. Last year I compared
the 13 Mini’s battery life to that of other iPhones, as some on the
list were parroting technology journalists who said the 13 Mini had
poor battery life but gave no data to support their claims. If you are
concerned about battery life, buy a Slim II by Poweradd. It is a 5,000
mA battery that can charge an iPhone Mini two times before needing a
recharge. It comes with a carrying case where I have added a
lightning charging cable. I paid $11 without the cable. The battery
is the size of two lighters for smoking or a thick lipstick tube. It
fits in most pockets.

Re: Embarrassing question.

2022-08-30 Thread Nimer Jaber
Well, I personally don't see the issue with someone asking about an
accessible dating app for use with their phones here. Moreover, rules or
not, someone was vulnerable enough to come on here and admit to being
lonely. It seems that the least we can do, as human beings, is offer help
or support. I should say that I don't know who this person is, and I'm not
sure I would come on here and admit these feelings... if I was feeling that
way, I wouldn't be that brave. I might, however, consider the fact that the
best way to find someone is likely going to be through common activities,
and probably offline. I would also hope that men feeling things like this
aren't out to objectify women, that they aren't out to find someone just to
alleviate loneliness, but I'm not them. And, of course, any moderator of
this list can do whatever they wish to about this thread.

Open safari and go into page settings.
It should be in the top left of the screen.
Flick till it says hide reader and select it.

Sometimes, when spelling out a word character by character, using voice over, I
have trouble distinguishing between the M in parentheses Mike and parentheses

hiding the reader view on a web site

2022-08-30 Thread Duane Steele
Hello iPhone list,

Today, when I went to pay a bill, I got to the final step where I check a box
that says I agree to the terms. and I couldn't hide the reader view which
contained a brief article to check the appropriate box. I didn't have this
problem in previous months. I should say that I recently updated my phone. In
the

past I could just go to the top of the Ppage. Format options would appear
Pthere. Has this changed"

Peace & Blessings,
Pastor Duane L. Steele

RE: Embarrassing question

2022-08-30 Thread michv
Hi I am not shure but some sights that come to mind are dateingfordisabled.com
zoosk lava life by phone, quest chat, these are phone dateing lines men have to
pay women don’t and you need a cc. as far as apps tinder comes to mind but the
last time I used it it relyed on picks and it was not that accessible with vo.
Also there is plentyoffish but again I am not shure how accessible this is now.
Back when I used it back in around 2005 it was accessible but that was years
ago. There is also the free chat line the number is 1712 432 5700 how ever even
that is not free they give you around 5 or 10 minnits and then your time is up
and you have to call back in unless you want to pay for a membership. The same
things go for lavalife by phone and quest dchat again those you pay for so many
minnits. And if you are a guy you have to pay but if you are a woman you don’t
have to. I hope some of this is of some use. I don’t know of any fully
accessible dateing apps or websibghts. The things that I did like about the
phone options is that you can hear the person’s voice all though having said
that you still don’t know if the people who you are dateing or speeking to are
real or if they are just sounding like women so I guess even that is not safe.
